  7. An earlier version of this article misstated a difference between Apple today and Kodak decades ago. Apple, like Kodak, has created tens of thousands of working-class jobs; it has not failed to do so.

Seems like a big correction to an article.

Told my friend a hurricane was coming, she had no idea at all. I told her it's probably a cat 4 and she said that's nothing, no response or emotion at all and then said "it'll be nothing".

I was gonna ask one of our Florida peeps to weigh in but seems like all their accounts are gone, Welp.

Grew up in Florida, didn't move till I was 16.

Hurricanes are not "nothing". My entire town almost missed a whole school year because of hurricane Francis alone, and we were all well prepared for the storm.

Idk what else to really say though... who are these people that think hurricanes are no big deal? Have they lived under a rock their whole lives?

No, they just said that they think they'll be fine and that's nothing compared to the cat 5 one that happened so it'll be nbd. I was trying to rationalize it, the whole "I've been through a bunch, it happens" is not usually used for massive storms.

Yes. They are. It's why living away from oceans is scary TBH

Yeah I've never actually experience tornadoes personally, some hurricanes come with them but I was lucky enough to not ever have that part of the storm over me when it happens.

    Tornadoes are terrifying tho

Also grew up in South Florida, anything from a tropical storm to a category 2 and it was basically a party. Gets spooky around category 3, though. Wilma fucked some things up in my neighborhood, no power or school for a few weeks.

I'm in central IL and there's been some serious tornadoes all around us. I'm totally fascinated by them and at the same time terrified. I do love watching live streams of chasers though, there's been atleast 3 occasions that they've driven thru my town. I saw them in my screen and outside my window haha. Though, if they're here I probably should have been in my basement haha. I have been a part of a search team for a serious one a few towns over. It's so heartbreaking for these people and the damage is so overwhelming

The thing with tornados is that there is sometime almost no warning and the tornado can show up cause a shit ton of damage and be gone in minutes. Hurricanes we usually know they are coming days in advance we just don't know how strong they will be.

If I had to choose between the two areas I'd probably pick hurricane central due to living by ocean and having some warning of trouble.

    I need some help

Some fam friends in Texas need help, they had to leave their homes because of the flooding and what not. They don't really have anywhere to go and aren't sure where they're going to live now. They asked us to set up a gofundme account or something for them? What's the best site for that stuff, I've never done one before. Also, is there anywhere else they can get help from? Any organizations that are helping people?
