I don't know it's the same across all twitter apps but on everything I've used (including on web browsers) you have to click twice to RT something, so that's always such a bullshit excuse.

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Could that sign be photoshopped? I don't imagine the types protesting Trump would be ok with that sort of message...makes the whole resistance look stupid, but it doesn't make sense for that sign to be there, I'd expect that from the right.

To be perfect honest, I do not have a visual in my head for perfect capitalism. Maybe a capitalism system that would reset itself constantly. To my understanding, good capitalism could only be possible if wealth was equal as the starting blocks. I'm not much of a philosopher and I'm an even worse economist. I wasn't trying to start any debates on capitalism vs socialism. I was only explaining why I'm undecided on a political fiscal stance, and that's due to the current state of capitalism mixed with the human morality needed for socialism to be accomplished. To narrow it down, I think capitalism that can avoid minority persecution and disadvantage is something I can't momentarily achieve, but I think it's as possible and would require as much long-term effort as a socialist system that the world can agree on. My main question was if other people in antifa and other left groups would block me out due to me not standing on one fiscal side.

Sorry if I'm not making sense.

  6. it sounds like you're describing social democracy, which is capitalism with a robust welfare system (a la scandinavia). it's certainly better than what we have now, but socialists would argue that it's unsustainable (especially in a country the size of the US) and capitalism will inevitably degenerate into the system we're stuck with now—any inequality will only grow to the breaking point. we need to remove the root problem altogether.

that said, social democrats share short-term goals with socialists and there is certainly a lot of extremely important work we can do together before we get anywhere near worrying about our differences in long-term vision.

I'm in kind of the same position as you. I'm still trying to educate myself on economic policy (lots of reading to be done haha) but I consider myself essentially socialist. Nobody comes out of the womb with a copy of the Communist Manifesto so I don't see why any leftist would block you out when you're still trying to learn. To me, a willingness to learn is far more commendable than just branding yourself a socialist so you can join the ranks of antifa. I can't really speak for other leftists tho cause like...I called myself a liberal two years ago. The more I learn the further left I go and I kind of feel the same was true for most people on the left.

This is really interesting, cause gee, what happened right around the 60s that might make people more interested in a war started to keep black people as slaves? I mean but obviously it's just about memorializing southern history, nothing to do with oppression...

Same, I didn't know that the leftists existed as a separate sphere from liberals until too recently because the narrative is always liberals and Conservatives and that's it

this is devoid of actual political substance but having grown up in brooklyn i can tell you this is basically how new yorkers strategize against nazis. like this dude just walking his dog and stops every once in a while to be like "YOU FUCKIN NAZIS YOU NEVER GET FUCKIN LAID. GET A TIKI TORCH SHOVED UP YOUR ASS"

I just love his definition of who a "grandstander" is.

"Rosa Parks. Such a grandstander. Shouldn't have been let on the bus in the first place. SEATS!"
