I've been a fucking moron with my "both sides" false equivalencies and certainty that everything can be resolved peacefully. I've been outraged for months and I'm to the point where I know "business as usual" isn't going to solve these problems of Trump and the alt right. More needs to be done, and I'm fucking angry. Sorry for the rambling, but I just feel like such an idiot.

 

Trump is emboldening these evil Nazis, and anyone who says otherwise shouldn't be taken seriously. His statement was SO FAR from enough, and he's a coward who is scared of offending his base.

 

Race and gender science are making a comeback. Folks ask why we oppose it fundamentally. Well, if genetic inferiority is going to be an intellectual norm, then it fuels this violence and the alt-right inherently.

 

I don't think it is fear of offending his base - it's far worse - it's only seeing two groups in the world: Pro-Trump and Anti-Trump. He does not care what you stand for, as long as one of those things is Trump.

 

I definitely think that's the biggest reason. That, and he can't even form a coherent political strategy to recognize something that would benefit him politically, which is calling out the white supremacists by name. He's too dense to even do it if he doesn't believe it.

I definitely think he's racist as fuck, otherwise he would be willing to do the obvious smart political move and disavow the white supremacist groups, even if he didn't really believe it.

Yeah, plus his cabinet is comprised of a bunch of white supremacists. I agree with you, I'm also just saying the fact that he wouldn't even make the symbolic move now I think speaks volumes... the media would eat it up too as a "pivot point" where Trump "finally became President", and the fact that his team surely knows this but won't do it regardless shows how deeply embedded these beliefs are in this administration.
