Some of those responses....this is the consequence of the likes of the co-option of MLK, the demonization of X and panthers, the whitewashing of Gandhi, the general historical revisionism which sees peaceful protest not only as the perfectly viable and very valuable tactic that it is but also as the only viable and/or valuable tactic. I don't think that media normalization is (only/mostly) what has made these people think this way but a misunderstanding or propagandized view of history, or in many cases, a worldview that simply does not take history into account at all. The view that Nazism can be defeated in debate is wholly ahistorical, so, it can only come from a distorted view of history or the lack of one.

People who are against this are the same people who say that to fight Trump we must "push facts, and fight anti-facts," and in the same breath say that facts don't matter in politics anymore.

 

People cluthing pearls about nazis being punched, and being wrong, aren't of my concern and I'm not arguing about it with random internet strangers.

By that logic, the media can say whatever they want because people sympathize only with what they truly believe. The notion that every soldier in Nazi Germany was human garbage has been refuted time and time and time again.
