Wow, I am on mobile and will read the article at home, but is he advocating for their grievances or just defining them?

    achin' to be Prestigious

@KimmyGibbler I read it as Nader defining their grievances, although it could have been expressed better. When it comes to articulating economic issues, civil liberties (electoral/constitutional issues) and foreign policy, Nader's usually spot on. But with race, feminism and LGBTQ concerns (especially as these movements continue to grow among young adults), he's clumsy.

Thanks, I don't know much about Nader. It's a little surprising to hear him at least appear to legitimize a Trump supporter's grievances.

This is going to be a real shitty election.

Yup, projection is based on the newest poll of Superdelegates.

And now what does this say to those people who want to go out and vote tomorrow? It basically says "why should I take time to go and vote if it isn't going to change anything?"

Really just seems stupid to say she clinched tonight, they were literally just talking before on CNN how they wanted to wait until results came in tomorrow so they could say that NJ pushed Hillary over the top and not super delegates.

  8. It actually might help Bernie tomorrow. If you're a Hillary supporter who hears this tonight, you're thinking that you don't even need to vote tomorrow.

But Hillary could've lost by 30 points in California tomorrow and it still wouldn't have changed anything. No one voting tomorrow should think their vote can change anything in terms of who gets the most delegates. Its just about sending a message at this point.

Also hate 'em. Completely ludicrous that the DNC can blatantly overrule the will of their own voters if they so choose.

Superdelegates are very undemocratic considering this is the democratic party. Hopefully in the next election they are abolished, as a few states have already voted to do so.

And let's do away with the electoral college while we're at it.

State Department is delaying release of Clinton's TPP emails until after the election, is there any way this is anything other than what it looks like?

I'm confused by the opinions in this thread

If super-delegates are universally bad, then Sanders using them to override the will of the people who voted for Clinton is wrong and he should concede the nomination tonight

If Sanders using super delegates to win the nomination is okay given the circumstances, that implies there are some circumstances where super delegates are necessary and thus super delegates are a good thing

Of course. If Hillary uses them, bad. If Bernie uses them, good.

no one has said it would be good for the superdelegates to switch from clinton to sanders though. you are confused by imaginary opinions espoused by noone in this thread.

Have you read any of MysteryKnight's posts in this thread?

So do you agree Sanders should concede the nomination tonight? Or are you in favor of super delegates?

I'm asking more from a fundamental sense. The lack of superdelegates in the RNC is the only sensible thing in that party. Really puts the power into the voter.

this post does not mean "they should support sanders over clinton."

There are plenty of fundamentally flaws with the primary system beyond super delegates:

    1) Plurality is not a good way to pick a party nominee because it creates situations where two ideologically similar candidates spit the vote letting a third candidate who is favored by less of the party win

    2) Caucuses create situations where only people with ample free time can take party in the nomination system

    3) The media's obsession with who "wins" each state despite it often being a small difference in delegates earned

    4) The lack of clarity on how delegates as a whole get awarded

Sure, they take power away from the voter, but I honestly kind of feel that the rest of the nomination process is such a farce that super delegates actually help ensure nothing too fucked up happens (like a fascist billionaire who is on record saying the only reason he is running so he can stop buying politicians and just be in power himself winning the party nomination)
