A disheartening reminder of how stupid the federal-state-local power structure is: This guy is running unopposed in my district....ick

  7. I would be pretty shocked if Trump doesn't get a lot of credit for the Sunday debate no matter what happens.

but hey. I guess mentioning Trump's taxes for the twentieth time was more important to Kaine than bringing up this load of shit.

Kaine had the opportunity to tie all the terrible things about Pence to Trump's candidacy like a fucking anchor. Instead, he allowed Pence to bullshit and alternate reality about Trump and comes across as a good guy. Calling mexicans rapists and abusing tax loopholes is trivial compared to advocating conversion therapy.

  17. I'm not actually sure what is more effective: attacking the top of the ticket on message, or attacking the VP that is basically a footnote. I woulda liked to see Pence gutted, but I don't know what one actually matters more to be honest.

effective at what? If your only goal is winning the white house at all costs, then sure maybe it was effective idk I think he still came across as rude and unlikable. but winning the white house at all costs shouldn't be the only goal. there was room for Kaine to make a bold stand for LGBTQ Americans and he "played it safe" and passed on the opportunity. If Kaine standing up against conversion therapy would've cost Hillary the election, American is too far fucked to bother trying to save.

Can Trump pick a new VP?

I know it would be a lot of wasted money on current signage and look awful but is there any regulation that you can't change your VP pick?

I believe the VP is voted on at the convention too, so I don't think he can pick a new VP.

What I'm slightly worried about is if there is any way the GOP can bump Trump off the ticket and put Pence in his place right away.

  21. Effective at your message on attacking the person running for President. Putting your message constantly out there about why Trump is not electable. I am pretty sure their only goal is getting 270 electoral votes.

I don't think it would have cost anyone the election, but I don't think it was a focused talking point unless the moderator brought it up. It looked like virtually everything Kaine was set out to do was attack Trump. He basically ignored Pence's record throughout the entire thing. Just kept going back to the top of the ticket. I don't think he played it safe (he was temperamentally a mess), I think he just went in with the idea that hitting Trump was the best strategy.

When Pence was first announced I remember hearing that he would likely do and decide everything anyway. Trump would just be the (hideously orange) face of the country.

So tonight was kinda like VP vs secret President.
