If I could just forget it

Can't wait for a couple years from now when we start hearing "but imagine how much worse it would be if Trump had won".

Speaking strictly for myself, my main desire has nothing to do with the outcome of this election. The question that I ask, and continue to ask, is who does one vote for if they believe the US is unethical in its very being? To whom does one dedicate a vote that has, within it, a demand that would cause systemic failure that opens up the terrain for a radical restructuring of society? Neither Trump, nor Hillary, that much is certain. The movement for black lives seems to be the most certain vehicle for opening up such cleavages in society. The Green party endorses their entire platform, as do a number other parties.

  9. Yeah his whole segment was really good and honest.

  10. I'd like someone to ask him a basic tax law question as well. Cause he's a lying sack.

  11. He'll sneak it back eventually.

  13. I think some people actually do believe in the third party candidate they're voting for, so it's more than a protest vote even though it is a vote helping a candidate they don't want to win - win. I haven't fully liked one candidate, especially enough to say I believe in them or trust them completely, ever in politics. So I've never been able to empathize with that sort of thing. I'm jealous if I'm honest, but because I think all the candidates are various degrees of "meh" it becomes easier to view the entire thing mathematically. And then the answer seems inevitable.

I can assure you that once the baby boomers die, we will live in a world close to that.

  17. If after all this he still won't release his taxes it's clear there's something else very bad in them he's hiding IMO.

I just hope it gets the coverage and treatment it deserves in the media. When David Cameron was the UK PM he was accused of an incomparably small case of potential tax avoidance (to the point it might have not even really been that), and he was absolutely hounded by the media and opposition. From what I've read, Trump seems to be proud of the lengths he has gone to a businessman to avoid tax? I don't know quite what the attitudes are towards tax avoidance are like in the US, from a media & public perspective, so would be interested to get an insight. Corporate tax avoidance is a huge controversial topic here at the moment.

Also, how are we this far into the election campaign and this is only starting to turn into a big deal now? Surely the moment he refused to share his tax returns, and kept making up how much he was worth, that should've been it. Has it just been a lack of any kind of tangible figure or way of exposing his finances?

I think it's that there have been so many things that should be for lack of a better term dealbreakers for Trump it's hard to focus on just one

I would think (hope) that the financial audits that I assume his companies were subjected to annually would have identified this, but an interesting idea nonetheless.
