Trump's son made it a point to stop in Philadelphia, Mississippi. This has significance because it was where three civil rights workers were killed in the sixties with the tacit endorsement of the local government/police force. It came to represent white violence against progress. Reagan used it as the jumping off point for his camping, invoking state's rights and the need to reduce government. The symbolism was understood. The Republican Party was on the side of those whose lives and traditions had been turned upside down by the progress of civil rights. A Reagan government was going to be one that returned the country to them and cease subsidizing minorities whose grievances, after all, had been addressed years prior. Its symbolic value has not been eroded after all these years.

From the cross tabs on that PPP poll

Favorability for Democratic among 18-29 age group is 36% in favor 47% opposed. Republican party gets 41% favor 48% opposed.

Congrats on fucking up the youth vote DNC. Clinton still leads Trump 51-34 in that age group. Also her approval in that age group is 46-46. But the mere fact that younger voters like the republican party more that the democrat party should be sending massive warning signs to democrat party leaders.

Hedge-Fund Money: $48.5 Million for Hillary Clinton, $19,000 for Donald Trump

Sen. Hillary Clinton: Campaign Finance/Money - Top Donors - Senator Career | OpenSecrets

Both are taking money from super PAC's, that's not a controversy, unless it's a pro-child predator super PAC. Hillary's acceptance speech clearly said if you want to get money out of politics, hold wall street accountable, break up the banks, etc, to "vote for her" to appeal to Sanders supporters, only to be accepting massive donations from those very corporations.
Trump is a shady business man, no one doubts that, but his campaign money doesn't tarnish him and he ran a very similar primary as Sanders himself, granted he didn't really need any outside help. None <-- Edit: article shows Trump and Sanders only candidates win no affiliated super PAC

Another interesting piece that tarnishes both main candidates that involves money....

Trump, Clinton money awash in conflicts of interest

I'm surprised at how poorly Stein is doing. Sanders supporters really letting me down.

  14. I'm surprised people are surprised unelectable candidates are polling horrifically.

They aren't exactly interchangeable, though. I was a fervent Bernie supporter and still view Clinton with mild disgust, yet the only reason I'd consider voting Stein is merely to send a message to the Democratic establishment.

Stein is anti-GMO, has some traces of anti-vax in her rhetoric, and her fiscal policy ideas are completely detached from reality. If anything, she just illustrates that Bernie wasn't really left fringe. Rather, he was an ambitious progressive with stated policy goals that would probably turn out well after the requisite phase of compromise. Stein, on the other hand, is hard to take seriously.

Also, Jill Stein is the only candidate that supports reparations. I think this is important.

I know they both take superpac money that wasn't in dispute. I'm saying all the arguments that Trump uses to say he's not "bought" are shit.

People finally pointing out the irony that capt. Khan would've been alive had Hillary not pushed for the wars in the ME. Trump should be harping on that, instead he went back to attacking Islam saying the mom wasn't "allowed" to speak at the DNC.

I've never heard anything particularly bad about the party. They tend be more focused on elections and of the democratic socialist tradition. I was under the impression that the Green Party already passed that motion. Am I wrong on that?

  24. I thought so too but I read the other day that it was approved to be voted on at the convention which is obviously a pretty big distinction. Think the convention is this week
