Yeah I don't see Trump winning without POC voting for him which probably isn't happening

You know politics are in a sad state where 51% being less likely and 38% being more likely to support Trump actually means an uptick in his approval ratings.

Why Clinton Might Have A Tough Time Flipping The Sanders Holdouts

Sanders supporters are not typical voters, let alone typical democrats. The emphasis placed on them as being absolutely vital to her winning is baffling.

Had a friend post this article when I pressed him about a Gary Johnson meme. Fuck, I hate people.

Why Socialism Failed | Mark J. Perry

EDIT: And then asked me to stop "attacking his beliefs" when I corrected, making me feel like a dick head. I fucking hate this idea that all political "beliefs" are equal even if some are completely regardless of fact or analysis.

Sounds like this author is an apologist for the democrats, quite honestly. Honestly, my ideal candidate would be Kshama Sawant. She isn't running and she is supporting Stein, because, unlike the rest of the center-right parties, there is the recognition that it isn't about establishing a managerial relationship with the various sectors of power, but a relationship with movements and the need to bring democracy to bear on those sectors of power.

I'm stunned by the way in which the party has responded to their booing and discontent. Quite honestly, this is tame compared to other countries. If one looks at how conventions used to be in our past, they were far more raucous. So, this idea, and I see it repeated across the liberal sphere, that this moment in time is distinct is ridiculous, both in terms of what occurred at the convention and Trump as a candidate. Like, Reagan had Alzheimer's while he was in office and only really cared about a few aspects of the job in any case, so having a racist president that is unstable and lazy isn't anything new.

Stein is no where close to being qualified to be President. As much as I love even her "off the wall" policy positions, she's somewhere between Bernie and Trump as it pertains to readiness for the job, and is probably much closer to Trump on that scale.

I actually taught this stuff this past year...lol at "brainwashing".

    Be my alibi?

Clinton is not a lock. Having to debate Trump and possibly Johnson 3 times and they have an arsenal of topics to legitimately burn her with. Who knows what other information might be leaked out in the upcoming months as well.

What Trump has accomplished is also unprecedented, not only in securing the nomination, but doing so with relative ease and winning in a landslide against heavy republican favorites, don't forget the historic number of primary votes, and his ability to make people want to tune into republican debates which networks made historic profits off of.

I'll say this from my social media feeds. My vocal democratic friends who are not happy with Hillary are bringing up Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, while on the flip side my republican friends are firmly for Trump and I haven't seen anyone offer an alternative to him despite his flaws.

We are 61 days away from the first presidential debate and it's worth noting that the GOP debates demolished Democratic debates in viewership total.

Not enough brown and black people murdered under her watch? Personally, I don't ascribe to the "qualifications" argument because it is an ideological argument in itself. But, that's just me.

If you're voting based on qualifications, you weren't voting for Stein in the first place

Not impressed with Owen Smith. I hope Corbyn annihilates him in the leadership election.

I'd vote for Stein if she had a prayer of a chance, despite lack of qualifications. And in a race against Trump she'd be by far the most qualified of the two. Her policy knowledge is limited but still vast compared to that of Trump.

But not only is she not qualified, she can't win either.

I've tried to give him a fair hearing, but yeah, the fact that he's started pivoting right pretty much straight away on issues I think are crucial has turned me off. That and the amount of gaffes he's already made in interviews and speeches and whatever doesn't bode very well either.

I'm honestly baffled as to why Smith was put forward as the challenger to Corbyn. He's a better speaker than Angela Eagle (although that's not really saying much), but ultimately still very underwhelming. I don't know if I'm missing something but I just don't understand why those in the PLP who oppose Corbyn think Smith can beat him. Is it arrogance? Or is this just part of a wider plan? I'm making them sound like super villains now haha but I just don't get it.

I think you're right to question it. It's been pretty baffling to me since they launched a coup at the moment they did, and I'm not sure exactly what to say about it. I think that at least in theory Owen Smith makes sense as a candidate from that side, but in practice he's already fucking it up. Altogether it's probably most likely that they just haven't judged the situation very well and don't have much of an understanding of why the party has gone down the route it has.

Don't the polls reflect Corbyn slaughtering him?

Yeah, at this point it seems pretty unlikely that Corbyn won't win again.

The PLP has basically said that, if Corbyn wins, they will continue to run candidates against him until he either steps aside or is defeated.
