Nope. No compromises from me. That's my mantra now.

 

I tried to be confident she would win because so many people were. for so long I've thought what I see and hear was because I live in a rural red area of a blue state and that couldn't possibly be the majority mindset. like I know there's a ton of hatred and ignorance in this country and that most people suck, but I also chalked a lot of my experiences up to living in a small rural conservative area. to confirm that it's not a small town mindset, but the reigning ideology, is so heartbreaking that I feel numb.

I knew that either way I wouldn't be thrilled about the results but I anticipated having a quick sigh of relief at hearing she won before going in on her and trying my best to hold her accountable. I didn't anticipate feeling like this. I have felt jaded and cynical about the system and the people in it for a long time. I know these ignorant and hate-filled beliefs aren't new and I already never felt safe for me or my family but at least before I'd say I was being paranoid. like I already had massive anxiety about racist violence against my family and I didn't think it could get worse.

 

Well, it was reported, so I handled it in that context. and I have no idea what you mean then. but, still.
