Not as poppy and more R&B but Tinashe is great and worth the listen.

  2. Speaking of name changes, my username on AP used to be my middle school alias x1onexwo1fx before I changed it to my high school alias, which I obviously still use. A lot of people said they changed their usernames to their actual names with the site switch. My actual name's already in it, so.

Midnight Machines by Lights came out today, I suggest everyone check it out! It's really good. It's acoustic versions of a handful of songs off of her last album.

Decided to take today off and spend it applying for jobs. In my quest to become Leslie Knope, I just applied to an awesome one in a Parks and Rec department.

What job search engines do you use to find jobs? I'm currently looking and Monster, Indeed, and LinkedIn are all ones I use... but all of my interviews haven't come from any of those sites.

Do yourself a favor, find job listings on 3rd party sites, but go directly to the company's website to apply. HR people aren't always good about removing listings from third party sites after they have filled the position so you may be wasting your time applying for positions that is no longer available.

In my experience, there are very few that I've applied for that didn't immediately take me to the company site. But I will keep this in mind for the ones that don't.

I'm looking for jobs in local government, so I usually go directly to a city's website to look. I have gotten jobs through Indeed in the best, though.

I interviewed in Parks and Rec a couple years ago in Killeen. I didn't get it. :( Felt so Jerryish.

I'm totally a Jerry, too, just hoping to luck into that mayor position eventually. I'm only applying to jobs out-of-state, so even an interview seems unlikely. But you never know!

I lucked out and have way too many recruiters. Word of mouth is a godsend.

I have five or six different companies looking for me and they haven't sent me a job lead since March 2015. About once a month I send them an email like "So... you even trying?" And get the same re-assurances, rinse/repeat.

I live in a "good ol' boy network" area, too. So if you don't know anyone, you're not getting in anywhere.

the earth is not a cold dead place.

I once simply updated my resume on Monster and had three or four recruiters contact me less than a week later. It almost seems random sometimes.

I went four months this past summer without a job. Probably applied to close to 100 jobs, and didn't get one in-person interview. Just have to stay diligent.

Damn :/ Yeah I get like 2 interview offers a week but they haven't been able to top my current job yet.

I got called "ma'am" a lot while working at a law firm. Thankfully, it's hard to confuse my first name with a female name. Though I get Jared a lot, which I don't mind, and Gary, which I hate.

  25. HR woman at my company has a last name that is also a man's first name, so occasionally she'll get emails addressing her as her last name, assuming she's a guy.
