I'm not sure if you saw, but in the last hours of AP I created pure maddess by getting my post count from 84,500something to 85,000 at the end. Counting threads all over the damn place

Entirely unrelated, but I was at this place that sells used books, comics, and stuff this weekend. I was glancing at the comics because you and others mention them so often. Even used the prices freaked me out. I forgot how expensive those things are.

I was on here all evening, but for some reason I didn't go get involved. Went and made my last post in the Thrice thread and just kept and eye on it. I enjoyed a lot of the screenshots I did see, though.

That's gonna be something I check out. That's actually not a terrible price.

I may do an open mic tonight which I haven't done in a couple months. Trying to rework my material and see how much of it is actually useable haha.

I mostly read Image now. Almost every single one of their #1's in $5 on instock. It's great because I don't mind paying $5 for something I could love. All of the subsequent books usually run around $8.50. Marvel is a ripoff. DC is usually reasonable in comparison.

 

Good to know. I've always wanted to read TWD. I only really liked the first season of the show, but heard the comic is vastly better. Marvel has the series I wanna read the most, so I'm probably screwed. But I adore The Dark Tower books and all the art I've seen is ridiculous.

 

Have you tried the Marvel Unlimited app? It's like $60 for the year and you can read anything from the inception of Marvel to about six months ago.

 

That'll definitely be something to check out eventually. $60 for a yearlong subscription isn't bad with that much material at stake.

For a while I was going to 4-5 a week and loving it so much! I could see how quickly I was getting better and becoming a part of the scene here.

Then when my band started writing our EP it became all I had time to focus on for like 6-8 months now and I haven't hit a single mic. I have time to go back now but it's so daunting again, it feels like starting over and I know everyone is gonna make a bunch of comments about how I haven't been there in a while.

You should definitely go though! Every night that I continue to not build up the courage again is another night wasted where I could be getting better. Idk how similar your situation even is but don't fall into this trap with me! Haha

 

Yeah it's a tough thing to stick with haha, that's been my biggest problem. I can go one week and not again for like 2 months and that makes it difficult to build a repertoire.

 

Yep. I got a ton out of it, especially in Afghanistan. I love reading some of the more obscure stuff.

 

When/if I go that route, I'll hit you up for suggestions outside the norm for sure.

 

It was great when I felt like I was in the habit of doing it almost every night. Just gets tough sometimes. Especially if your mic's are like the ones here where it's really just comics who have heard most of your material every day for a week or so now so even if you're funny you get no laughs and can't gauge how well you're actually doing.

A few mic's here have regular crowds though and those ones are always fun but like 9/10 here are just comics and no crowd.
