obviously if youre at a show where its going on and you want no part of it you should stand back but that doesnt mean it should be happening

I'm not sure there's a good argument in favor of that type of thing, really.

I've never personally tried crowd surfing, lifted a few people up for it in the past, makes me feel super strong even though I'm not.

Also hell no to stage diving, I'd be the guy that the crowd parts for and land on my ass.

I like to thrust myself over people to shout lyrics and people think that means I want to go up. Put me the fuck down, you dolts.

I'm actually very courteous and let the person in front of me know. When I saw Darkest Hour, there were these, maybe 14 year old, guys. I told them, "Hey, I plan on jumping over your heads onto the stage." They were so happy at even the thought of it. Hahaha. That set was so fucking good. A shame everyone left after Veil of Maya and they played to a crowd of maybe 25 people.

Besides cooking and eating, all I've done since I got home was play Kingdom Hearts. So much for housework. And I guess I can do yoga in the morning...

What about when bands stage dive? Like I'm pretty sure I've seen live videos of the Menzingers where one of the vocalist stage dives while playing?

if theres enthusiastic consent from the crowd sure. as long as they recognize if someone gets hurt because of them they're obligated to pay whatever damages they cause.

Like I don't know, I definitely have mixed feelings on stage diving/crowd surfing. On the one hand, it's generally unsafe, and parties who aren't actually involved in the process can get hurt as a result.

On the other it's an expectation of the show depending on the artist, (Certainly shouldn't be happening at a Foxing show), and it's easily avoidable by those who don't want to experience it, by standing in the back or towards the sides. And I'm sure it's a key part of the experience of a live show for some folks and certainly some artists enjoy it/encourage it.

Not sure where I stand on it really.

how can you not be sure where you stand its clearly a bad unsafe thing that takes away from the show for people who dont want to be involved but are involuntarily dragged into it and potentially get hurt. i know people have gotten hurt and i myself have gotten hurt from slam dancers, stage diving, crowd surfers. there's ways to have fun and move around with actively hurting other people.

It's one of those things that just seems so selfish and disrespectful to me. Foxing has thousands of dollars worth of pedals, lights, and projection stuff on stage. The guy that jumped off stage could have broken any of that and they would have to pay to replace it. It takes everyone but you out of the moment and stresses out the smaller people around you. I've been seriously hurt so many times and I don't see why I should have to stand at the back of my favorite bands' shows so some dude can enjoy hurling himself on top of people.
