I don't ever put on much weight, but I've been "skinnyfat" forever.

People always make comments about how I can afford to eat something when I turn it down, or that I can eat a ton and not gain weight, but 1) they don't know what shape I'm actually in 2) you maintain a healthy weight by not eating bullshit and 3) you can afford to eat more if its not loaded with sugar and carbs

At bootcamp we ate like 4K calories a day. Or at least I did. I gained 25 lbs in 10 weeks.

You are right about that. I skip meals sometimes bc I'm too lazy to make something. I like to be able to pop some shit in the microwave and be done with it.

Yeah I'll be grading like crazy and then fall asleep in the middle of it and forget to take the time to make lunch for the next day. An expensive and unhealthy habit

I find eating healthy is boring, too. I get tired of salads and chicken all the time.

In Afghanistan I ate grilled chicken almost every day for lunch and dinner. If I had worked out, I'd have been in good shape. Fuck that though.

I don't eat paleo, but I like the basic principles of it: minimize sugar and carbs, eat all the meat and veggies you want

I think their anti-dairy thing is bullshit though

For various reasons biological, psychological and hereditary eating is a huge issue for me. Stress eating. Compulsive eating. Binges.

Trying to substitute better things in. Sliced mushrooms and tzatziki instead of chips or something. It's not great but it's something.

Yeah you can definitely have a fair budget. I don't see how it's time consuming either, there are healthy snacks (nuts, fruit, whole wheat bread, etc). It doesn't take any more time than most other things. There's so much out there that's healthy, it's not really limited to salads. If it was just salad, I would have been at a really scary weight right now.

I mean, cooking takes more time than running through a fast food drive-thru or popping a frozen meal in the microwave. I think that's all that was being said in terms of the time consuming thing?

Lately when I'm tempted to make a poor choice for dinner (usually either PB&J or Taco Bell are immediate reactions) I force myself to cook something relatively quick. Omelette, baked potato, kale & sweet potatoes, and pork chops are some of the things I've been doing when I don't have a lot of time to cook.

  22. I've found that meal planning on the weekend for the week, sticking to a weekly budget, and cooking things early helps. Like if I cook on Sunday night for my dinners for Monday-Wednesday, I'm in a much better place for timing (just heat it up) and health-ish (it's planned ahead). Combining that with cutting any non natural sugar (from fruits and veggies) from my diet has been a huge help.

Most pasta and vegetables can be cooked in around 10 minutes or so. Rice and meat is generally what takes much longer, as well as boiling potatoes instead of frying them.

Then there's other options like soups, smoothies, salads, sandwiches, etc.

Going organic is what's really expensive. :worried:

i always shop at the beginning of the week, and i always plan all my meals as much as i can. i'm way too planned, i need everything planned out or i'll just struggle to find stuff to eat. try not to go out more than 2-3 times a week
