Like someone posted a status that got heavily shared that was like “if you’re sharing world war 3 memes, you can get in your car and drive straight to the recruiters office” and I’m just like -____-

 

I guess I can understand the draw of resorts or all inclusive style places when traveling but like you don’t even wanna try to experience the culture in the place that you’re visiting? I’ve done a quite a bit of traveling and the only reason I have is because my dad works for American Airlines. I know without that privilege I never would have been able to.

 

I just like the one I posted because it speaks the trajectory of literally what has actually happened...it's depressing AF but there's def some slice of humor in it too.

yeah, people who don't even venture out of their resort or whatever and think they've somehow experienced a culture can miss me with that bullshit

 

Idk which you’re talking about lol and honestly I wasn’t saying I’m over the memes to make anyone feel bad. I get people process with humor it’s just not the same for me in this case so I’m like ahhh

 

The only time I'd do an all inclusive place is if I was going to Ohio or some place with nothing else to do

All inclusive places make sense if you’re poor I think
Also if you’re going to a place that you wouldn’t feel safe walking around willy nilly bc you’re a dumb ass white person who did no research etc

but of course there’s lots to be said about those places existing in those places at all etc etc etc

basically I don’t think there’s anything wrong with most ‘types’ of vacation but if you’re the kind of person who is doing the same one every time (ie: Disney or a cruise or sandals in Jamaica) then you’re severely missing out and doing yourself a disservice.

 

if it's not safe for you to set foot out of the resort, then yeah, I totally get it and you shouldn't tempt fate

 

If you’re actually poor than I very much doubt you’re vacationing in foreign countries (if at all)

I’m very much a home body and don’t really feel
much of a desire to travel. I’d like to go to more big cities in the US I guess never been to Chicago or LA or whatever pretty much just east coast. I also sort of associate traveling with being like a rich kid who suck

 

slightly above poverty level

 

I love to travel and I am of about average income. (At least for my city) I always hate the rich fucks that get to see the world and it seems like they don't even appreciate it.

 

I’m too high for 1pm

 

I'll never forget how I felt after seeing about a quarter of the country on this one road trip. coming home and seeing everything just as it was before I left was surreal and the kind of feeling I could never begin to describe, but there was this sadness combined with sheer happiness to be back home and know that out of all the places I'd been to, where people didn't know or care about me, that there's at least one place where I'd always feel at home

 

We’re back to the Disney people again, lol. That’s also why what they do always rubs me the wrong way, because they are privileged enough to be able to afford to go anywhere at any time and yet they just go to Disney constantly and spend more on each trip than most families can afford for their vacations in a decade.

 

I get the desire to travel but the reality is that I’d be ok with never stepping foot outside my apt if allowed.
