I didn't expect much since they have to start to setup plotlines for the season but it was an okay premiere.

Did I miss why Davos and company are risking their lives to protect Snow's dead body? Is it just about an honorable burial or something or is there more?

People thought this was an underwhelming episode? Lol is there another version of this show you're watching? Had way more shit occur that I even anticipated.

Damn so like 3 important people already offed in this episode. I'm starting to think that we are going to have some sort of resolution with Jon Snow's character by next week; two weeks at the latest.

Probably going to be a very fast paced season.

    Alright, let's see...

I'll spoiler in case people didn't see the episode.

    1. WTF DORNE. Dude. After reading (most of) the books now, I was so excited for some Doran Martell action. ugggggggh. That being said, I had a thought--do Ellaria and the Sand Snakes have an ace, or rather an Aegon, up their sleeve? This may be how the showrunners bring him in. I don't know how else they make Dorne and the Sand Snakes relevant to the overall story for the rest of the season. Dorne clearly isn't marching on Kings Landing, and the Lannisters aren't marching on Dorne, no matter how much Cersei may want to. So now Ellaria and the Snakes just rule Dorne off to the side? It'd be pretty awesome if they had hidden away Aegon. It may be too late in the story as far as the show goes to establish a new character like that though. Snakes should have taken Trystane prisoner or something, didn't think killing him was a smart movie.

    2. Was hoping we'd get the fight at the Wall this episode, but no. Thought Alliser made a decent argument to the brothers considering what they did was treason.

    3. I love when Dany can speak a language but leads people around her into thinking she doesn't understand. Guess we're going to Vaes Dothrak.

    4. Yaaaaas Brienne and Sansa. Good to see Pod's been picking up on those fighting lessons too. Theon getting a little bit back to himself. Feel like he's probably going to dedicate himself to helping the Starks as much as he can now. Previews seem to put him back in the Iron Islands at some point though.

    5. Sad we got no Bran. Arya's scene was literally just a "Oh BTW don't forget Arya's blind!", kind of a waste.

    6. Jaime and Cersei was okay. Figured we'd get a little more "burn their cities to the ground" from Cersei, interesting to see it coming from Jaime. But, again, there's no way he's marching an army to Dorne, so...

Wasn't Trystane on the boat with Jaime and Myrcella? I don't remember two of the sand snakes making the trip? Missed something somewhere.

Abandon all reason for the Dorne subplot, complete and utter nonsense. So frustrating

I'm just glad after all this time she finally earned Sansa's trust. One of the most honorable people in all of Westeros.

Also, things are shaping up nicely for Ramsay Snow to dispatch of his father. Especially once he learns that neither Sansa or Theon are coming back.

I thought it was a pretty good premiere, picking up with biggest stuff from last year. I think Sansa and Theon was my favorite part of the episode, Sansa accepting Brienne's oath made me so happy. I was not expecting that in Dorne at all, I was assuming Ellaria was going to be killed and they were going to go with the stuff from the end of the last book but now I have no idea what they are going to do with that. I felt terrible for Cersei. Seeing her so happy and running to greet Myrcella only to be crushed by the news of her death was heartbeaking.

Melisandre being old was not surprising to me at all, it's been hinted quite a bit in the books.

Let's avenge our father by killing off his brother and nephew! Didn't feel grounded in anything other than the writers throwing shit at the wall.

Outside of character motivation, it just isn't very interesting imo. Would much rather see how Doran would handle having to go to war with the Lannisters when he wasn't responsible for Myrcella's death than whatever foolishness the Sand Snakes (who are all mediocre in their roles, though the dialog doesn't help them much either) concoct in power.

The ease of offing Doran and Trystane was frustrating, was a case of telling and not showing that the Dornish resented Doran's reign when the guards just stood there not giving a fuck.

Great episode overall, but where did the two Sand Snakes come from? Weren't they all on the dock at the end of last season as Jaime sailed away?

But didn't Trystane go with Jaime and Myrcella? It's possible I'm wrong, but I assumed he was on the ship with them, since Doran said Trystane would go to King's Landing as well and sit on the small council and so on.

Lol and of course some people are calling this episode bad/terrible. It's the AP thread all over again. People are so jaded.

I thought it was a fantastic premiere, and am very excited for this season. That Melisandre reveal was crazy.

That loneliness is not a function of solitude.

Has to be what they're getting at w/ her looking at the mirror with that kind of look of finality on her face, right? In terms of characters, her for Jon Snow would definitely be a trade I'm willing to make.
