Bran getting to be king seems like it might be GRRM's endgame (though even in the books it's still not really on the radar yet. The best evidence is that Bran was the first story he started book 1 with and thus he seems like he must be an important character in the end), and it seems like Dan and David had no idea how to actually make that happen in as short a time as they wanted to. It sucks. It could have been fleshed out so much better if they did 10 10 episode seasons,

To me it's a shitty decision and very telling of them as showrunners that they would choose to speed to the end just so they could move on to other things and ruin it for the people watching the show instead of just handing the show off to other showrunners. Like, I feel like way too much stock was put in their abilities. I'm getting madder the more I think about it.

Currently a little over a quarter way done with Fire and Blood, and i've already thought "i bet HBO could do another spin off just based off this story" multiple times. Remember House Of The Dragon is based on only maybe a little over a 300 pages of a 750 page book, there's at least 4 or 5 other series they could do based off the other half of that book alone, and that's just Volume 1. I'm thinking we're going to get adaptations of ASOIAF lore for a very long time.

Personally i'd think it'd be cool if they did an adaptation of "A Caution for Young Girls".

HBO already has a project in development titled " Ten Thousand Ships" will supposedly will be about Nymeria leading the Rhoynar to Dorne. It's unclear if this is going to be live action or if it's one of the animated GoT projects HBO said they're planning.

I'll never forgive them for what they did to Euron and replacing Victarion with Yara

I had the same thoughts as I read it. They could make a pretty kickass anthology series set in the world with all the little stories GRRM has enriched the world with. Just getting a season or so on the reign of Jaehaerys would be great. I want to see what happens to Aerea on screen hah. Plus that would mean we'd get Elissa Farman too.

I realllllly hope they don't got the animated route.

I was somewhat interested in the First men concept but that seemed like a horrible horrible choice for the first spinoff.

I'm confused by the article - was the First Men concept what the $30 million dollar pilot was using that had the plug pulled on it...?

I liked the idea of a prequel series set a long time before the show, way in the past. I have no desire to watch a House of the Dragon show, although it's probably a good investment for HBO setting the show much closer to the GoT timeline.

Yeah that one was supposed to be about the Starks, set way back at the time of the first Long Night. So we basically would have been seeing (presumably) the war between the First Men and the Children of the Forest that led to the creation of the White Walkers.

Like I said, I was interested in it for sure, but it was going to have virtually no familiarity to GOT fans outside of the Stark name. The Wall, Winterfell, and virtually none of the other names in the show existed in Westeros or the North at the time. Wouldn't have been a good way to hook back GOT fans in.

But also I am pumped for House of the Dragon, because reading Fire & Blood I know the story is pretty awesome haha

Personally I'm more interested in a show based on actual GRRM written material than some original concept vaguely based on a timeline that GRRM hasn't really explored yet in his work.

I finished both Jaehaerys and Viserys' reigns and am now on to the Dance Of Dragons. I could see it. A spinoff on Jaehaerys' long reign would have to be a totally different tone than Game Of Thrones or House Of The Dragon is going to be though. It would be almost be like a fantasy version of Downton Abbey or The Crown. Nothing incredibly high stakes or a lot of warfare, but an intergenerational family drama with tons of courtly politics.

Everything to do with Rhaena/Aerea/Farmans would be awesome. the thing with Androw Farman on Dragonstone would be crazy to see on screen too. It would also be pretty cool to see Princess Saera's story as well.

Going to start the Dunk and Egg trilogy after i'm done Fire and Blood.

Is World Of Ice and Fire worth it? I'm worried if I get it it's just going have a lot of the same material as Fire and Blood. Also I dunno if I want to pay $25 for a coffee table book version of the ASOIAF fan Wiki.

I loved the World book, and you’ll get more than just the Targ history from it. It really expands on the world and gives you cool details about the rest of the Known World. Made me realllllly want to know more about Sothoryos and shit haha.

Fire and blood is like one small chapter of WoIaF but it is a book version of the wiki I guess. Obviously not as vast as the wiki. It’s pretty cool though.

Oh and the Dunk and Egg tales are great too. I also bought that audio book and while it wasn’t as good as the GOT audiobooks, it was still pretty cool

After reading enough expanded ASOIAF stuff i've realized the ending of GoT makes even less sense within that universe

So you're telling me the smallfolk of Westeros south of The Neck who started two sectarian insurgencies because guys were fucking his sisters, beat a Master of Coin to death in streets because they were a foreigner from Essos, and HotD spoiler > killed multiple Dragons with spears and pickforks because a street preacher told them they were unnatural demons would be ok with the living avatar of pagan nature gods to rule over them?

Also even in the show don't they make it clear that everyone who isn't a major character thinks Tyrion Lannister is an evil villain? If GRRM has the same ending i'm sure he'll do it in a way that addresses this, but yeah the people of Westeros would absolutely loathe the new King and Hand.

Tbf, I think the whole country being at war for hte last 4-5 years and then a huge ass dragon completely decimating the capitol probably has people on a "lets just try to live life and not give a shit about what special powers the King is rumored to have" haha. My guess is King Bran would certainly have some issues arise, but his gift (much like Bloodraven) would give him abilities to counter and stop any uprisings before they can even occur.

Peter Dinklage on Why Game of Thrones Fans Were 'Angry' Over the Series Finale and Show Ending

    Well.

I’m sure that’s part of it but, really, I never expected a happily ever after, Dany and Jon get married and rule together ending. I didn’t really think Dany would end up with it in the end, but I wasn’t sure how we’d get there. And they rushed the turn as we’ve said ad nauseam now. Had they taken a full season (or two!) to flesh it out, it woulda worked much better.

I DO really hate Jon’s ending tbh. I know the implication is he was where he was truly happy, and I guess on a certain level he couldn’t remain in the kingdom because he’d be a “threat” to Bran’s rule, but…he clearly loved his family and should have been with them in some way. He shoulda renounced all claims he had and been on Bran’s kings guard…but I digress
