This is from an interview with director David Nutter about why we didn't see Jon telling Arya, Sansa and Bran what his real name is:

Reading stuff like that from the makers of the show, it is really hard to not get the feeling they were all just trying to get this show TF over with as fast as possible.

 

Idk that's a pretty commonly used rule in film and television.

 

I definitely disagree with it in reference to this. Sure there are times where you don’t want to be redundant, but these are such important character moments to cut out. Arya and Sansa have made so much of their identity about their family and about Jon specifically, and seeing it could have been a really powerful moment between the siblings finding out they aren’t.

 

That's definitely true as well. But the criticism that it was out of laziness isn't accurate.

 

I wasn't trying to imply that this was done out of laziness. I just think the creative decision to get as quickly through this part of the story is the wrong one. For me it really just shines a light on why this last season is very unsatisfying. A rush to just hit the major plot points is not how the rest of the entire series has been. This is a major revelation for characters we have spent years and years with.

The Jon not petting Ghost thing was 100% laziness though.

 

Oh yeah it sucks we didn't get to see it. I've seen a lot of criticism saying they just don't care so that's why they didn't do it.

Yeah that was....weird. But on the other hand where as Ghost even BEEN lol. He just like, shows up when they have extra money to splurge or something haha.

 

The feeling of watching this season so far kinda reminds me a lot of how it feels watching Peter Jackson’s trilogy of Hobbit movies. After he drags his feet stretching about 50 pages of children’s novel into 17 hours of screentime, the story gets to the good part and then they switch it up and make the shortest movie out of them all where most of the good stuff is left on the cutting room floor. It is a little frustrating.

 

Yeah I was just going to post how the ep Tryion kills Tywin premiered on Father’s Day. So tomorrow on Mother’s Day this being the penultimate ep is an interesting coincidence.

My brother and I have a running joke that we actually enjoy trading GoT memes more than we enjoy the actual show.

This is the best one I have seen.

 

I mean, he sure looks like he's paying attention in that pic. And he's made a big deal about how he wants to "put a prince in her belly" as he so eloquently put it numerous times.

I am really trying to hold out hope here for the last two episodes...

 

Before it all ends, I want you all to know that this thread is the only reason I’m hoping for them to pull out a win instead of crashing and burning. I want everyone here who cares to be happy, you’ve ruined my schadenfreude!

 

I have also been trying to mentally psych myself up to still be able to enjoy these last two episodes if all of the leaks that I read are actually how it does play out but it is done well.

 

From an emotional standpoint, it bugs the hell out of me that they whiffed the chance to have Jon pet Ghost goodbye, but that is a judgement call and they are definitely moving through the story fast.

Saying that Euron would not be paying attention to the fact that Tyrion mentioned the baby that he would have no way of knowing about (from Euron's perspective) when he was standing right there and had made it a point that he wanted to impregnate Cersei is just poor. There isn't really a good way to wave that one away.

Best case is you could tell yourself that Euron actually did hear but is playing his response close to his chest and forming his new strategy without letting Cersei catch on to the fact that he heard I suppose.

 

I love the camera work in the boat scene with Tyrion in E4. Only thing that would have been better would have been a tracking shot of Varys’ slow ass plodding along and somehow not getting blown to smithereens by Euron’s crazy sticks.
