Oh man, yeah. Like so many. I’ll see if I can find something that goes over them all. There are big things like the entire subtext of Jaime giving his sword/heart to her and then refusing to take it back, and tiny little moments like Jaime horribly attempting to flirt by asking if she’s sure they aren’t related because he is the least smooth man in the world. Apparently the books are even more explicit about it.

I think Jaime understands that now Daenerys is going to show no mercy and he wants to try and make sure Cersei isn't killed (she's carrying his baby). I don't think he's switching sides all of a sudden, he just cares about her still, despite everything she's done, and doesn't want her to die. And Brienne is upset because she loves him and doesn't want him to throw his own life away to save Cersei's (Brienne also doesn't know that Jaime has the extra motivation of Cersei being pregnant with his child, of course).

Also that line about being hateful sounded more like one of those cliché moments where one half of a romantic partnership tries to say the meanest possible thing to the other half in order to make it easier for them to let go of the relationship.

Okay, if it's more explicit in the books then that makes sense because I haven't read them, but little hints like that what you just referred to or even their time in the spa bath thing... idk, those aren't that romantic to me.

Like, having a platonic friend, even one someone has had a one night thing with, is still a thing and I never got the vibe that that kind of love it was bubbling under the surface and going to eventually lead to something.

Watch this, particularly starting at 2:20 or so:

it went from like, one night stand/fling to quasi-implying that they were like in a relationship now which was probably the weirder jump for that relationship.

Oh yeah the execution has been an absolute mess. It’s the same way I felt about Arya/Gendry. The end result of these people being together is justified by earlier moments, but why are they going about it in such a bizarre way??

Agreed with @Sean Murphy and his statement above, but this scene in particular, see I still read that as mutual admiration and respect for what they've both been through, what each others' companionship and friendship means, loyalty, etc...

Like, I could totally see myself being as earnest and loving with one of my best friends, but I guess I could see other people who would think there was something romantic between us when there truly isn't.

Although, I do believe people can be "platonically" in love with each other, so maybe that explains this whole hullabaloo, haha.

When Varys began to approach Tyrion when they were discussing treason, I though for sure he was going to kill Tyrion.

That scene with Tyrion and Varys was easily my favorite scene of the season so far. I actually thought that Daenerys was going to walk in on them, hear Varys talking about betraying her, and kill him.

i need to re-watch that scene (and episode as a whole) but was Varys implying Tyrion (or someone close) should just kill Dany and be done with it all? That is the vibe I got.

He was outright saying he's going to plot Daenerys' death so that Jon can rule lol

“It’s yours. It will always be yours.” This show is not subtle about double entendres, and that is ripped straight from every romantic drama ever.

I couldn’t hear her line particularly well, but didn’t Dany also straight up tell Jon she would have to do the same thing to his sisters? There was a LOT of plotting out in the open this episode.

Yeah the Varys and Tyrion stuff is definitely the most interesting part of the season, by far at this point

Lol saw your post in genpol and literally came over here to @ you and say just you bringing up his name made me reaaaalllly want that “more true to the story” adaptation joke you made weeks ago. The show is great imo but def suffers from that lack of mysterious side characters like Darkstar, not to mention the entire Arianne story in generalz

Yeah she basically said if Sansa doesn't fall in line she'll have to force her/remove her from the equation.

I get what you're saying and I guess it can go either way, but to me, I just never really felt anything romantic between them. Like, nearly at all outside of flirty jokes, which I don't take as being indicative of anything that deep.

They've always been one of my favorite pairings on the show, and that scene was just a powerhouse acting showcase for both of them.

"I've served tyrants most of my life. They all talk about destiny."

"She's a girl who walked into a fire with three stones and walked out with three dragons. How could she not believe in destiny?"

"Perhaps that's the problem. Her life has convinced her that she was sent here to save us all."

"How do you know she wasn't?"

    So good.

Annnnnnnnd it all comes from the mind of Sansa. That girl is fucking bright.

But yes, that was one of the first scenes of straight dialogue that had my heart speeding up in a "I do NOT know what is about to go down" type of way.

I mean that’s fine, I’m just showing why most people saw it coming and where it was justified/didn’t get pulled from nothing. There are tons of crack pairings that wouldn’t be justified, but this isn’t one of them.

I’m still reeling from the dead talk in the politics thread.
