    I feel like there's been a clear effort in this game to make it the most approachable/friendly game they've made to players while still keeping the core of their design philosophy. Stuff like the Marika stakes, the easy fast travel, the spirit ashes, all the different ways it gives you to progress, there's a bunch of stuff here that makes it a much easier game to stick with and progress in than older Soulsbourne games while still retaining the difficulty and lack of handholding that fans (and I'm assuming Miyazaki) love.

    He actually admits in the article that he is not the best at video games. Go figure.

    I think it’s more accessible, but also harder. I understand Margit is there to act as a wall to make people explore the world and not beeline the critical path but still. That’s a very very tough first boss. Absolutely punishing if you expect it to be a standard Souls boss too given his whole moveset is centered around delays and punishing constant rolling.

    He's clearly not supposed to be the first boss though which is what's cool about it, after going back to him after finishing a bunch of stuff in the overworked I don't think he's that difficult, pretty standard for these games, plus with the jellyfish and the summon it's pretty easy in comparison.

    But then he's still there super early if players want a challenge.

    It's hard for me to accurately gauge the difficulty since I've played all of these games but so far I'm like 15/16 hours in and have died considerably less than in any other Souls game. Its pretty easy to see when something is gonna be frustrating and just peace out somewhere else.

    I suppose it's down to style. I had to completely change how I play Souls games to beat Margit. I didn't find him easy when I did beat him. But definitely a tough Souls boss, adding in having to change how I approached it and needing the Jellyfish I'd say it's a very tough boss. But yeah it's there specifically to say "go explore the world".

    I am dying a lot less than say Bloodborne, but that was my first Souls game. Since beating that last year (with a 6 year gap from when I first played it fuck you BSB) Margit is probably the boss I've died most against and that was 8 deaths.

    I think if you had to face him traditionally he would be classed as very hard but that's what I mean, there's so much more at your disposal so you don't have to. I died waaay more in Sekiro/Bloodborne/any Dark Souls but I also died way more than 8 deaths on a lot of the bosses in Sekiro and Bloodborne haha.

    I have not played Sekiro yet, not fully anyway. Think I played like an hour of it at a friends. Bloodborne was weird, once I beat BSB I kind of locked in. Beat most following bosses in one go, only one that gave me much trouble was Shadow of Yharnam.

    BSB was definitely one of the hardest, Shadow of Yharnam was a nightmare for me, just kept getting caught by one of them. That might have been the most I died in that game for some dumb reason, it took me ages. Orphan of Kos was solid as well.

    I think Sekiro was easily the hardest for me because I suck at deflecting/parrying, I honestly spent hours on a few of those bosses, haha.

    Going from Bloodborne to any other Souls game was a tough time. I was great at the “parry” mechanic in BB, but I absolutely suck at it in Souls games. The BB parry was so forgiving.

    I just loved the speed and aggression of Bloodborne, it was hard going back to the patient blocking lol.

    yep same, I also love the quickstep as opposed to rolling.

    I just found an ashes of war for quickstepping in ER last night. but I'm too far gone with my STR greatsword character to switch to it as it scales on DEX not STR

    same then, haha. what greatsword are you using?

  13. Nick

    @fangclubb Prestigious

    I’m using the Bastard Sword at the moment. I was using the Lordsworn Greatsword for a while but switched because Bastard has better STR scaling. Claymore is fun to use though, worse STR scaling than that Bastard Sword.

    I picked up a sick colossal sword late yesterday and it’s making me question my choices too hahah

    ah didn't know that, I've got a Claymore and a Zweihander lol.

    @fangclubb Prestigious

    oh I haven't found zweihander yet. must look into that. though I'm trying to keep a medium load at the moment. dunked a couple of points into faith to chuck fireballs at people. that came in handy in Stormveil. not sure if I'll keep going with it or just keep it as a backup ranged attack though.

    Hate losing 10k runes because I forgot to send the elevator back down and I just ran into a hole. :/

    Good god. I just opened one of those transporter chests in the south of Weeping Peninsula

    Location spoilers below:
    it took me to the Divine Bridge where there was a huge golem. Not too difficult to take out but there’s a chest there with a talisman that restores hp over time. Wonderful!!

    "Getting rid of the -5% Total Health debuff is actually quite simple, though it can easily go overlooked. You need only use the Baldachin's Blessing that Fia has given to increase your poise, and once the blessing's effects are gone, so to will the health debuff leave you."
