Spoiler warning for final boss

 

OKAY GONNA TRY AND GET THIS DONE. Breaking up the writeup into subsections so I can spoiler tag appropriately. I had to stop myself cuz I likely could've gone longer.

 

I enjoyed reading your thoughts, but you keep using the word "mortifying", and I wonder if you know that being mortified means to be embarrassed or ashamed.

 

I’ll be honest I didn’t lmao I thought it had more to do with the “mort” root implying thoughts of death

 

As a high school dropout I appreciate your kindness in pointing that out and not jumping to roast me (since ironically I am mortified)

 

It does. I mean, when I'm embarrassed or ashamed, I certainly wish I could jump into a hole somewhere.

 

Yeah I thought of it like “scared to death” but that also makes perfect sense

 

Took down the final boss. Ended up summoning the mimic tear for the second phase which isnt how I wanted to beat him, but oh well. Good fight but maybe a little too hard.

 

i understand why people dont want to use spirit ashes but at the end of the day much of the game was designed with the idea that most players would be using them. unnecessarily hamstringing yourself and then saying something is too hard never made any sense to me. not saying thats what you did btw but its very common on twitter to see people bitching about difficulty and then realize they think half the in-game systems are tantamount to cheating

 

I feel like it's especially relevant in SOTE because of the fact that a massive mechanic for the DLC revolves around upgrading your ashes and Torrent

As a chief complainer about fight design I agree

 

As an aside I felt like the revered spirit ashes did absolutely fucking nothing for Torrent, Torrent has never felt more fragile than it did in SOTE

 

Just did Fog Rift Catacomb. Holy shit that was a great dungeon and really cool boss/weapon esp for my Faith Boi

 

Really enjoying deflecting/guard countering these bosses. Changes the dynamic of some of the fights in a pretty refreshing way (looking at you Malenia)

 

I heard Malenia doesn't heal off the Deflecting Hardtear deflects??? That's so cool

 

I was under the impression she still heals, but between the guard counters and criticals it’s still very viable, and especially so against waterfowl.

 

Have now beaten Malenia as well. First time without summons/ cheesing her! Sort of learning how to survive waterfowl was a big help.

For summons, personaly I dont like using them because I like to fully engage with the bosses mechanics and patterns. Thats just how I most enjoy these games. Not trying to sound elitist and I dont think using these things is cheating, but having another person taking aggro from you does make it so you dont need to learn the boss to the same degree you have to otherwise. I dont think anyone would disagree with that.

My mimic doesn’t really hold agro all that well

 

With the spirit ash upgrades I’ve noticed my mimic is way stronger lol. Based Miyazaki

 

my best boy is very squishy because I barely wear armor myself because I use such big weapons and shields I can’t afford the carry weight

 

Meant specifically the dlc upgrades but I know you haven’t started yet. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts King.

 

I’m super pumped haha hopefully I land one of these jobs I’m interviewing for this week so I can afford that shit

 

Finally entered the final area. Have some little odds and ends to visit elsewhere but otherwise I’m nearly done.

 

I reached the final area then looked at my map and realized I had to have missed a ton of shit. Doubled back and found a whole new area that I hadn’t been to before. This map is wild.
