does the degree of difficulty increase with each play through, or is it just OG then NG+ and then each subsequent NG is still the same?

You essentially go through on your NG+ with all your stats on NG+ and even NG ++ like a boss.

It will get increasingly harder of course.

Yeah the item description made it seem like you get the estus boost just by using the item so I’ve wasted two now

Increases but I did literally every boss in my first playthrough so I was like level 150 I think by the end. I've found journeys 2 and 3 to be very easy but I'm also level 225 lol

Player's Log: The underground is very pretty and full of stars. Wait, stars? Underground? Preposterous.

Anyway, I've done three major things tonight.

First, I met Blaidd in the River and after discussing our situation with some other folks, found our next move is to meet in Caelid.

Second, I cleaned out at least the main part of the Sofria River and opened up the Deep Well exit that leads, as fate would have it, to Caelid.

Third, I lit the pillars, and then I lit up the Ancestor Spirit like a Christmas tree.

Now, it's my understanding I can do more in the Sofria River by using the various warp gates scattered in the area, so I'll be doing that tomorrow and attempting to clean out as much of the area as I can.

Because I feel in my bones that after I'm done, I'll be turning my attention to a place that's not so pretty. Caelid is in my future.

    Players Log:
    Dark Souls remastered run through:
Made some big progress tonight. Killed Orstein and Smough, got the Lordvessel and the ability to warp. I also killed the Hellkite Dragon. Time to do some grinding in the forest.

this is why it burned me out though, paradoxically.

I don't know how to chase that high or follow it up.

Finished the Ornstein and Smough fight, wasn't as frustrating as I anticipated. One of the first bosses in this game that's felt fun (the wolf one was good too).

I think Sif is my favorite boss in all the Souls games. There is a ton of strategy and patience required. O & S feel like a lot of the bosses in Elden Ring. It is cool how you have to factor in who you want to kill first in order to 100%/Platinum the game. I killed S first this time around.

I just took out sif at about level 60 and he gave me a heck of a time lol but if you stay under him he’s not too bad

It is pretty crazy, because of his size, that can jump from one side of the arena to the other.

And his spin to win move can’t really be blocked and if you get caught in it you’re either dead or very close

Same for me - unless the last 3 bosses in Elden Ring are exceptionally good (and from what I have read the last one is kinda annoying so I doubt that will be the case) then it will not top Sekiro for me. As vast and expansive and beautifully designed as the world is in ER, as varied as the possibilities for player builds are, and as cool as the games main bosses are, Sekiro just tops all of those.

Senpou and Fountainhead Palace are just as beautiful as Leyndell and Siofra River, the skills are just as fun as ashes of war, and bosses like Genichiro, Guardian Ape, True Monk, Owl and Isshin are all better than any ER boss in my personal opinion. But really, with all things considered, it is the combat system that make Sekiro better for me - the deflect mechanic and the posture bar just puts Sekiro in a league of it's own, mastering that and defeating Sword Saint Isshin at the end is a high you just can't replicate with Elden Ring or any other game

I agree with all that. And I do think Malenia (which I know you've already done haha) is on par with some Sekiro bosses I love and was quite a challenge in my playthrough, and I do think the conclusion of Elden Ring has some very good bosses (and some bad ones) but I don't think anything in Elden Ring topped Isshin and I do think playing through Sekiro, which became one of my favorite games so fast, and Dark Souls 3 after really set the tone for what it is I personally look for in those games, and Elden Ring wasn't quite that even if it is an amazing game that improved on so many things in the general FromSoft Cinematic Universe.

I really need to get back into From games. Only have finished Bloodborne and DS1 so far. Played a bit of ER but put it down. Might jump into either DS3 or Sekiro first. Sekiro seems very intimidating haha

I get that but it's definitely worth it! When it clicks it's so satisfying

It was a very intimidating game for me to begin with, and I got my ass kicked 20+ times on a certain red-eyed mini-boss early on in the game that had me considering quitting, but boy was I glad I didn't. Exactly as @Fucking Dustin says, when it clicks for you it's so satisfying and you get into this rhythm of fighting which is unlike any other game I've played

I Just beat it a week or two ago...its definitely a very interesting combat system, and it was different for me to get the hang of being sneaky since in Elden Ring I am a strength boi

its all about recognizing patterns in the enemies and reacting immediately

Owl Father from Sekiro is the toughest boss in any From game that I played, and I have beaten most of them the past 6-8 months

it took me legitimately like 3-4 hours of trying constantly to beat him

(I have not played Bloodborne since I dont have a PS)

Inner Owl wrecked my shit. Demon of Hatred was my hardest overall on first play but it's a lot easier for me now, have kinda realized I've been taking the wrong approach to it in general. Malenia is probably my #2 and yeah nothing in Bloodborne is close to as hard as Malenia or the few hardest Sekiro bosses.
