Has anyone tried guard counters yet? Forgot that was a thing in this game

 

Yes. Sometimes they will really fuck you over if the enemy’s attack hits twice lol

 

Kind of wish I went faith instead of Int. I have like 19 talismans and multiple merchants selling miracles. It took me hours to find a useable staff and I think I’ve seen one spell dealer haha.

Im done for the day. About 14 hours in. Absolutely loving it. Kind of wish I took tomorrow off as well but I’ll have all day Sunday and Monday to get my shit stomped

 

Also I’ve played this series from right around Demons Souls release. Messages used to actually be helpful. It was nice having that camaraderie “we’re all getting fucked but here’s a hint”. Now it’s just “finger but hole” and “secret path” in front of every wall or cliff. Getting kind of annoying haha

 

Yeah I could do without the comedic ones, but I imagine the jokers will thin out eventually. God knows I’m 10 hours in and still fucking around the starting area.

 

I just take every message serious and about a quarter of the time they help hah

 

Has anyone actually found a secret wall yet?

Alright now that all my technical shit is out of the way I’m loving this. The flask recharges after killing a group of enemies is such a nice addition. The steed is also crazy useful.

 

When y’all are saying the first area where do you mean exactly? This game is huge btw

A message warned me about opening a chest with a trap in it. I’m thankful because I looked up what happens when you open it and it sounded hard

Did you get it all sorted then?

 

I thought I'd check the beginners guide out because I've played a big chunk of the starting area now and I did not know you could change the side you attack on your horse with L1/L2. I thought I just had to always attack from the right haha.

 

How do spells work? Sounded like you needed a staff to use them, but then I was watching one of those videos where it looked like a guy without a staff was using them so now I'm not sure.

Overall this game feels kinda pointlessly vague about how some mechanics work. Had to look up even how to level up cause turns out just "rest at a rest spot" wasn't actually good enough.

Are the lines that appear on the map next to some of the rest spots important? Should I know what they mean or is it something you're supposed to discover?

game is fun, but I do worry a bit if the whole "find the one part of the large map that I'm high leveled enough to make progress on" could start to feel a bit tedious. there are also a lot of standard open world creature comforts like quest logs or enemy difficulty indicators that I kinda get why they don't want it but also think those things make the game a lot more fun cause its annoying to try and keep track of everything yourself. part of my "I'm a badass fantasy adventurer" power fantasy can be that my badass fantasy adventurer can be good at knowing what will fuck him up and what will not even if I'm not good at that.

 

Getting a flask recharge after you beat a group of enemies was such a good idea

 

Also took down bloodhound knight darriwill, and using a summons I can get Margit down to about half health, but I'm getting stomped

 

I think I fought Margit like twice and was like nah I'mma come back.

 

They may have been using a finger seal to cast spells if it appeared like they weren’t holding anything.

 

Yeah after I re installed it’s launching fine. Then my audio issues were fixed by turning on and off my sound bar lol. Tho do just have vibration when you roll or hit enemies? It only vibrates when I’m hit or I backstab which is surprising since it’s supposed to have full dualsense support. I’m assuming you’re on the 5.
