What are some snacks that you say you're only going to have a little bit of and you know you're really just lying to yourself?

Mine are peanut butter m&ms and peppermint bark.

Whoever thought of putting minty stuff and chocolate together is my hero.

I used to live in Singapore and there is a dish there called Hainanese chicken rice. It is as simple as it soundss, just chicken and rice and some aromatics. But the way it's prepared elevates something simple into something almost indescribable. The key portion is the rice which is cooked in a really fragrant chicken broth with a lot of the chicken fat. The rice takes on a really subtle yellow color and is glossy from the chicken fat and I want to die in a bathtub full of it.

I've decided to dedicate myself to recreating it. I've tried before and it's been good but never as good.

 

I feel bad that I've already failed my new years resolution but food doesn't taste as good as it should without cooking meat. It really makes a difference for me.
