I just drove a total of 60 miles to get Dairy Queen. I really wanted some ice cream and my other options fell through.

I am from California and so is my entire family and we all know what it is. Stop being a flop Steve!!

lol my only source that it's a west coast thing is from like 2 users on here. But big chains like Dairy Queen, Burger King, and Red Robin (kind of. RR don't call it fry sauce but it is) have it so I'm like weird, maybe they only make it for specific markets? Seems like a waste tho. I thought chains were fairly consistent across countries, with only a few exceptions

edit: I googled. It is a PNW thing apparently??

I will go to every single restaurant in this state and try to find whatever this is!

Actually, in accordance with the much stricter forums I participate in, I should disclose, I have never tried Aeropress. I haven't even tried my french press yet because I'm that into the Chemex. I also have a V60 but I think there's a difference between the two (mostly in the filters). I dunno, I find Intelligentsia through a Chemex to be a magical thing.

  8. I'm not a fan of the French Press unless I need to make a relatively decent sized pot for multiple people at once. Even then I'm probably going to go Aeropress. I like the Chemex, it's a good way to go, and I totally get people that prefer it. I think that it's a relatively fast brew that produced a good cup. However, I think the recommended temperature for the water brings out a little more of a bite in a darker roasts, and I found I can make a far more consistent cup with the Aeropress. Right beans, right grind, it's gonna come down to a specific palette preference for either in my mind and how often you can hit that perfect spot. That consistency is important to me. So, if I have to make a call, and I need to know what I can make the best cup with right now? Going Aeropress. Clean up, and taste. But a glass handled Chemex is a totally good way to go. I respect that kung fu.

If I use the bona vita electric kettle, a tea time and a scale I can get very exact with everything. I grind my beans prior to brewing and I have been in my coffee glory for the last few months because of it, no more lineups at pricey hipster joints to get overpriced coffee for me. I am going to give the Aeropress a go either way, they're cheap enough that if I don't like it I'll just keep it with my French Press and Nespresso. I really want to try the Siphon method too. It's a time to be alive.

  10. For sure.

I recommend the inverted method. 18 grams of coffee, 185 degrees, 14 on the virtuoso grinder, add water, little stir, bloom of about 25 seconds, finish the water, 45 second plunge into a cold cup.

What's a 14 on a Virtuoso, I have a Hario Mini Mill, no room or money for an electric grinder at the moment.

  12. Fine, probably just a tad less than a drip. That's a damn good hand grinder though!

Yep! Really like it and it's held up very well. I honestly got into all this madness cause I was bored with Pro Audio gear and it's been a very fun experience. What coffee beans are you using? I probably can't get a what you have up here (I'm the friend Jorby is alluding too, I follow him on the internet and troll him cause his band is terrible).

What does RR call it? I always get their campfire sauce for fries and it's very good.

It's the campfire sauce! I believe it's mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. At least that's what my bag of red robin fries said lol

Haha tbh it's just like burger sauce! If you go to in n out and dip it in the pinkish burger sauce it's prob the same thing. Like I imagine the secret sauce from Goodburger is the same thing as fry sauce.

If it makes you feel better it doesn't taste like mayonnaise much. It's the base but other spices overpower it. I rarely make my own tho cause I feel gross using the mayonnaise

  22. I got sick from Chipotle's E. Coli outbreak. Wasn't pretty and I miss Chipotle in my life.

I know it's unlikely to happen again but the idea is still scary.

I'm sorry you had to go through that! Glad you're okay. I went there the day before I found out about the outbreak and I don't think I can go back. I passed by the Chipotle across the street from my city's university yesterday and it looked completely empty.

  24. It's sad. That first night was horrible, the pain was unreal.

The saddest part is that last time, my burrito was tastier than usual and I paired it with a beer which made it even better. Oh well.
