These companies assume American tastes are boring, and they're right

 

Singapore has the best food culture in the world, I think. It has cuisines that don't exist anywhere else because of the massive population of Chinese, Indian, and Malay people all in such close proximity.

I think you're right, Chase, about American taste maybe not being boring but being resistant to change. We value being able to walk into any McDonald's or WalMart in the world and feeling the familiarity. We are slow to embrace change in some ways.

 

Just look at all the variety of flavors other countries get in snack foods, so many chips and candy and stuff we don't get here, made by the same companies, but it apparently wouldn't sell well enough here to justify putting on the shelves

 

And I wonder how much actual testing of that theory they do. Or if they just assume that chili crab is too crazy of a flavor to upset the poor American sensibilities with.

 

Well, I think there is some grounds for it. When I order anything unusual when I'm out with my parents or something, I get weird looks. Purple want what's familiar. Still, if they sold international flavors at specialty stores only, that could be a success

 

I wonder where that food attitude comes from? How much are we missing out on by sticking with what is familiar?

Like I love burgers but if another mid-range burger place opens up near me I'm gonna lose my mind.

 

I'll have to try 5 Guys later this week. All this talk about it and I've only been there once.

I had Ethiopian food for the first time last night. Really enjoyed it, super spicy!

 

Whopper is a great fast food burger. I'm sure it will not taste better on a tortilla. But I damn sure will get one

 

I'm going to a Brazilian Steakhouse and my brother is paying.

Burger King has okay food that I will eat under the right conditions. That said, they are annoying as fuck with their advertising and their ideas of birthing food spawn from two foods that are fine the way they are. Just like Taco Bell.

Why am I so upset over Burger King.

Really need to try Wendy's breakfast. Only problem is I am never around one that serves it in the morning time. One day
