I finally figured out how to open my window after a year (it was sealed shut apparently so I prob just screwed myself for the winter lol) and now all I can smell is the delish Hawaiian grill downstairs that I can't eat because it's meat.

 

My meal kit order was supposed to arrive today but now it says it won't be here until Tuesday. Which is annoying because I only picked up a few groceries this week assuming I'd have more food today but whatever!!! And the fact that its at a place an hour away so idk why it can't be here sooner but whatever x2

Edit: well it still showed up so it's on!

 

Sorry I haven't been posting any food pics. Honestly I've mostly been eating at my hotel bc I've been working really long hours and I've been absolutely drained. Today I went to the Cinque Terre (look it up) and I had something so simple but it was quite possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten. Aged pecorino with pears and honey. Had some local wine with it too and the location made it an experience to remember.



And also I went to Corniglia where they are known for their lemons and I got a lemon slushie with a scoop of lemon gelato. Again, so simple but it was unreal.

 

Made a steak dinner tonight for the first time in a while and am very happy with the way it came out. Also tried the blue cheese butter that someone mentioned in here and it was really good with it. Still need to work on my plating, never been very good at it.

So I made the flatbread recipe today. Every recipe came in a cute lil brown bag which were all in a large box lined with Styrofoam and big ice packs



The ingredients were also cute basically the packaging was cute



They also include a recipe and instruction card. I enjoyed that I knew I had all the right ingredients and mostly correct portion sizes. Only thing that was way off was the arugula. I used the entire bag and should've used like half. It was overflowing on the flatbread and made a huge mess. The recipe was clear and easy to follow and it tasted good. They sent 3 recipes for 2 people, so I'll have leftovers tomorrow cause I still have the whole other flatbread left. If the other recipes are similar ill have enough for a week and with the promo discount it came out to just under $30 for a week of food.

 

did you get to pick your meals, I'm very picky so that's one of my concerns with these sorts of things,but of course I'd eat that

 

I don't think so? To me it seems like you can preview the next few weeks and skip weeks depending on if u like what the meals will be, but I previewed as far as I could like the next 4 weeks and it all looked good. I cancelled my plan tho because it's $60/week without the discount and that's more than I like to spend on groceries in a week. Its something i wouldnt mind doing ocassionally and the recipe cards are convenient and im def keeping those if I wanna make the recipes again. But the ingredients themselves seem pretty simple and cheaper than $60 so it's def paying for convenience. But it did make the cooking fun! I wish they had a cheaper plan for 1 person

 

My wife and I did Blue Apron a few times and we realized we had access to the recipe cards for anything we wanted, so we downloaded as many as we could and then cancelled the plan. Definitely the way to go if you’ve done a few and can get the feel for cooking them.

 

for some reason I have really been craving those like sushi bowl places like Butterfish or Pokiland.

The worst part?

They are both down the street from my work and I've been trying to resist them.

I can’t seem to make anything right lately haha so frustrating

 

One of my most favorite things in Tuscany is prosciutto e melone. It's so simple and it's exactly what it sounds like - prosciutto with melon (cantelope). When I think optimal sweet and salty combos, my brain usually goes here. I've had it probably 20+ times across all my trips here and it's never NOT been perfect.

 

Have you ever seen it with something other than cantaloupe? Like honeydew?

I made the greens farro bowl with roasted asparagus and zucchini from Hello Fresh last night. Was probably most out of my comfort zone from all the 3 meals I received. It was good tho! Just a lil more stressful than the tomato flatbread cause there was more to do and I got kinda stressed with timing everything and also I'm bad at chopping things. Makes me feel like i need to use lemon more cause that was my fave part. I also got to use my zester for the first time!

 

Adding a little lemon juice or zest to a dish can boost it so much sometimes

 

gotta say this but I feel like sandwich places are my least favorite food place

 

Was at Yard House last night and had fried mac n cheese. It's basically giant mozzarella sticks, but instead of mozzarella it's stuffed with mac n cheese. Also comes with tomato bisque and some kind of creamy mushroom dipping sauce. It's pretty great.

 

Sausage egg and cheese mcgriddle... I had no idea !!
