I was pressing tofu and it was uncooked and had no seasoning or anything yet and my nephew grabbed a huge slab and just started eating like the whole thing and offering some to everyone in the house. It was super cute.

I've never pressed tofu and don't really know what it entails. I just cut it into cubes and toss it into the pan

I had never done it either. We used paper towels and a cast iron skillet but I wanna try to invest in a tofu press eventually

Since tofu is packaged in water if you want to do bake or fry tofu you have to try and get some of that excess water out. If you aren't baking or frying and you just toss the tofu in without pressing it can water down whatever recipe you're trying to make.

I went to Safeway and the cashier was so extra. Asked what I was doing today so I said running errands. He asked if this was the last errand. I said yeah pretty much this, gym, and then done. He asked what I was doing after that. Like ?????? Nothing???? Not ur business?? Will probably sit at home and watchful Frasier and finish kingdom hearts but you are a STRANGER so I'm not actually gonna tell u about my day plans. This is why self checkout >>>>>>

Oh man I HATE when cashiers ask me what I'm up to. Smoking a bowl? Watching TV? Going for a walk? My life is boring and I don't need them to know that. And when I DO happen to have something exciting going on, I feel way too awkward to talk about it with a stranger. It's a no win situation. Feel u kiana.

Ha no! That's actually only like 20 minutes for the old company I worked for (and like 2 hours from this one). I looked into it a different time I was here and it's basically impossible to get reservations. They only have a few tables and they're open something like 12 hours/week total.

Easy, fun way to fix that. Lie. Tell them you're buying that snickers bar to energize yourself before what could very well be your last gladatorial battle later. It's you vs. a rhino, and all you've got is a knife.

Haha I had to ask. Seems harder to get into than The French Laundry which is really saying something. Plus the basic tasting course is around $300.

I expect that level of questioning from Dutch Bros or something but not from the grocery store! Like I thought we are all in silent agreement that we're just following a social script and nobody actually cares

my work gets on me for not engaging with the customers a lot but it's like I don't care about their lives and they don't care about mine so ????

If I could just forget it

That's funny that this conversation is happening now. Lately I've been trying to talk more to cashiers, front desk people, etc and I have to say that even the tiniest little effort to ask how someone is makes a huge difference sometimes in my interactions. Not everyone is into it, but more often than not the outcome is positive, and I think people remember when you take an interest. Today I talked to a nurse who was prepping me for an exam, when I would otherwise be silent, and her demeanor completely changed and the conversation was great. I think everyone has something to say and something you can learn from, so might as well give it a shot.

And hey if it ever fails, I just pickup and move to another state. No problems.

I think I've picked up a bad habit. My new job has Kind bars and other snacks in the kitchen for anyone who wants them. I've been having one for breakfast almost every day

I made vegetarian wedding soup today and it wasn't a disaster yessssss!!! And I got to bust out my great grandma's cookbook to make the homemade croutons for it. It has her handwriting in it and I just get really emotional but very happy every time I get to use it.
