Tried Costlemark today and died :( shitty how it shoots you all the way out of the dungeon..

I need to get a couple more ascension skills I think.

 

Can someone explain how the carnival works as far as saving? So if I load the game I'll be out of the carnival?

 

I was worried about saving as well. But, the only way you can get in the carnival is through the special menu option at the title screen. If you load your regular game, it'll load from the last place you were. The save will transfer data at the end of the thing I guess. I now have a choco sticker looking thing on my save.

I ended up catching all the fish for the items, though they are mostly useless. I also finally caught the Jade Pink Gar last night. I don't think it would be possible to catch one without the Cheesecake effect active.

 

I finally caught the regal arampaima last night. It takes time, but you can lock into a pretty simple pattern with it toward the end. It fights like a real fish. The top three hardest fish to catch are: Pink Jade Gar, Regal Arampaima and Giant Catfish. If you do like fishing, getting the Cheesecake recipe at the carnival is a must. I have 12 more fish to catch to compete the list.

 

Have been itching to play FF9 and I went to go get it out of storage last night only to find that I had gotten rid of it a long time ago :(

 

One more fishing update. The Dread Grouper is the largest fish in the game. I caught one that clocked in at 234 lbs. You only catch them during the day at the main Galdin Quay fishing spot. It's not a particularly difficult fish to catch either. I think it's cool that one of, if not the largest fish ends up being at the first fishing spot you find. Little touches like this are what I love about JRPGs.

 

I have about 50 kinds of fish. I'm still missing ignis cooking dishes too. Idk why but even tho we don't get trophies for completing either I want to get them all.. it's saying something that I've been playing since launch and it's four months out and I'm still engrossed. Even after picking up KH 2.8

Super stoked for the updates and dlc.

Actually just read a write up on how awful he menu screen is on Kotaku.. I didn't realize how bad it was until reading it and realizing it's pretty bad.

 

I have 89 of the fish now and all of the difficult ones. I'm not really concerned with completing the recipes since I think they will keep releasing more whereas I doubt that they will release new species of fish to catch.

What is so bad about the menu screen?

 

Still haven't finished 15 or touched Chapter 13. I might as well wait til that patch at this rate. But then I will be playing the new Mass Effect non stop. Ahhhh decisions.

 

I didn't mind Chapter 13 at all. Maybe it was because I didn't do it all in one sitting but I thought it was fine.

 

I'm about halfway through it and didn't hate it but eh. I just haven't had the motivation to finish it and I played this game non stop since the day it came out til around Xmas.

 

Can you still return after Chapter 13? Is there a cut off point? I have 95/100 fish and I'm trying to decide If I should finish the next few chapters and then go back to finish the list.

 

Another note on fishing for anyone who may care. The Wennath Salmon is very difficult to hook. Took me quite some time to get it to bite. And the Zipper Baramudi will keep appearing and striking first. Took me about an hour.

Update, I caught all 100 fish. The sunrise Lucian carp took some time. It was my last fish.

 

New patch today. New timed hunts, increased max lvl to 120. I hear theres a new sword and fishing gear

 

Anyone able to download the Booster pack? I can't find it on the PlayStation store. Everywhere it says it was released today, but I'm not seeing it.

Got the patch tho..

 

Just waited it out and downloaded from my PS app while my system was in rest mode. Such a cool feature.

Ragnarok is a beast with the warp strikes. Really digging the time hunts. 100 low level cactuars was cool.

 

Playing FF Tactics. I'll beat this damn game this time.

 

I know I'm late on this, but wow, chapter 13 and beyond is pretty bizarre. The game felt more like Parasite Eve and Silent Hill. I don't necessarily think it's as out of context as people have said. There is the whole Deamons at night aspect throughout the game and some other similar dungeons/areas. But the sequence at the start of chapter 14 when you arrive to the destroyed Galdin Quay and see the world ravaged and overrun with evil is pretty damn intense. Seeing it all as you ride in the truck to Hammerhead is something straight out of a post apocalyptic nightmare.

But you can tell that this was all a product of a disjointed production for better or for worse.

I'm finishing the game today. And I still believe it is one of the greatest JRPGs ever made.

 

So I'm right at the final point of the game, but I'm trying to get that enemy to spawn for the daggers. It's such a weird vibe at this point. Really curious to see how it all plays out.

 

Really need to hit that timed quest before it leaves. Definitely how I'm getting the higher level ascension nodes. Tired of grinding for AP

Horizon Zero Dawn currently has all of my attentions.

 

I didn't complete the Cactuar one. What's the new one?

That game looks great. I have no time with finishing this and getting into BOTW.

 

The new one is two Malboro's I think.

Dude, Horizon is literally one of the best games I've played in years.. I highly recommend it. Highly.

 

Cool, I checked out the quest last night. Finally got that enemy to spawn to get those daggers before the apparent end boss.

And yeah I want to play it. I have a PS4 that a basically never use and this is the first exclusive that looks like a must play. There is just too much going on gaming wise. And now Mass Effect will be thrown in the mix too. This is getting ridiculous.

How are the bosses in Horizon? They seem like they would be interesting given the enemy designs being mechanical animals.
