I love turn based but it won't ever be part of a main FF game again. It's a dated system for a lot of people and not a high selling point. Which doesn't make sense cause Pokemon is huge and that shit is turn based. But a lot of people I know are turned off of JRPGs cause of it.

I've said this before, my favorite FF combat is FF12. Man I cannot wait to play that on the re master for PS4. The memories man...

 

Fine with real time combat. I've played enough turn based JRPGs. FFXV combat is good.

 

Yeah it's good once you get the hang of it. Not the best, but I dig it. I know like no one played Lightning Returns but I personally loved the combat of that game. The only thing that kept me playing was the combat.

 

Hmmm for some reason those settings helped FF look a bit better than it already did but now shows like westworld look like crap. Grrrr haha

 

That game was rough. But yeah, the fighting was really interesting.

 

Yeah, I use hdr+ for tv shows. It saves your settings for each "special viewing mode", so I'm constantly switching between game mode and hdr+ depending on what type of content I'm watching/playing.

 

Okay I will try that. Thought about that but didn't give it a shot yet.

 

Three more hours in last night. The battle system is getting a little better, maybe It's just not developed enough. Is there a way to have the enemies stats always show up in the upper left corner? It's driving me crazy that I can't tell how much health enemies have. I inexplicably beat a level 29 enemy last night... Not even sure how at level 15. I really love this game. It does so many things right that Xenoblade Chronicles X did wrong in this genre.

 

The enemies health show bars show up above their heads.

 

What is the yellow bar? It always looks full.

That's the health bar. It depletes as you damage them

 

And an argument on the health bar issue - most FF games did not show enemy health bars. Most JRPGs do not in general unless you have an equipment or ability to read their stats, which I think is what happens when it appears in the top corner (I believe Ignis is doing this if the battle lasts long enough?)

 

There's an ability you can unlock that lets Ignis scan enemies yeah.

 

Yeah maybe I need to look into that.

 

If you play in "wait" combat mode you can manually scan enemies as well. I don't think it's as fun as Active though

 

I don't know if my game just glitched or Ignis is sick of my shit, but he just crashed the Regalia like three times in a row for no reason

 

Yeah I bought that stat and others right away that have helped combat in so many ways. It did benefit from playing a bit of the demo and how many RPGs too, but yeah knowing that stuff off the bat gave me a way better edge.

Not to derail the new game hype but has anyone else seen the rumors about how SE is going all-out next year for the 30th anniversary?

Hot damn, I'd get a PS4 just for all that collector's stuff

 

That is insane. If they seriously release all of that next year that will be impressive. That complete collection is going to be like $1000

 

I'd be pretty bummed by that collection because as someone who wanted to learn more about the series, I'd be forced into buying a new console just for the collection.

 

Also, just finished chapter 5. Level 32, 17.5 hours in. I didn't like the end of chapter 5 as much as chapter 4. Seems like we are getting more cutscenes now though which is cool. Story still lacks depth so far.

 

You don't have a PS4 already? I thought I was late to the game!
