The irony of every Barcelona player this tournament BUT Messi making their penalty is not lost on me.

Wanted Denmark to go through but at least Croatia will be more fun to watch next round.

Croatia-Russia quarterfinal just like we all predicted.

Is this a new thing? I’ve seen the term double jeopardy floated around here but didn’t know what it referred to.

Also, echoing the sentiments about keepers off the line during PKs. It’s been really bad.

We've had this rule in the prem for a couple of years now (unsure how it's been rolled out elsewhere). It does actually make sense in some ways. If you can be seen to make a genuine attempt on the ball, then you only get the penalty as the punishment (and probably a yellow). If a player just wipes out a forward who is through on goal, then he's still gone. Previously, a defender trying to stop the last man was basically fucked for making even a small mistake.

Thought that tackle was an interesting one. It was very similar to that Davinson Sanchez one, but in this case I think he kicks through the foot of the Croatian player to get a little nibble on the ball.

Also, on the PKs, I really dislike that stuttered run up thing that so many players do now. The rule on that should really be changed, as I don't think the current rule really enforces the spirit of it.

I'm still rooting for either France or Belgium to win this.

If England go out I’ll be routing for any of the teams that aren’t Brazil, France or Belgium. Because in that situation I’d like an underdog to nab it.

I'd go for an underdog. Hoping Croatia go far. I just think France/Belgium have strong squads. This has been such a surprising WC though so I suppose anything could happen.

If England go out, it'll be France for me (as I win (£90 if tthey win). After that, it's Croatia. Would be awesome if they won.

As a Scot, I'd quite like to see England win.

I just can't see England doing it. I think we're going to stuff it up against Colombia tomorrow.

Yeah we'll probably lose tomorrow, but if we go out I'll be rooting for whoever is still in out of Uruguay, Mexico, Switzerland, Belgium.
