It sounds like hard rock, granted, but “You Shook Me All Night Long” is one of the best pure pop songs ever made.

Realized I wrote Another Green World on my list when I meant Here Come the Warm Jets. Have to decide which to do now

    The former, easily

    edit:
Wait I liked Warm Jets, I wasn’t a fan of Tiger Mountain. But still, Another Green World is perfect

I was telling @cshadows2887 on Twitter that I have definitely heard pieces of it over the years (perhaps even all of it), but I never did a deep-dive, deliberate listen.

  8. I think I need to do a Prince deep dive soon.

On the decks today is Room on Fire by The Strokes, I may have actually heard this before, I think my dad had this album, but if I have heard it, it won’t have been for ~15 years so I’m still counting it as new music.

I like Is This It a decent amount when I’m in the specific mood for that kind of guitar-y indie rock / garage rock stuff, but it’s certainly not an album I listen to regularly.

This sounds like more of the same - I reckon you could easily put the two albums on shuffle and it’d be hard to tell which is from one or the other. Reptilla is the track I recognise most from hearing it in miscellaneous places over the years, and that’s a really great song.

Pretty solid stuff overall - nothing at all new from what I know of The Strokes from Is This It, but scratches the itch perfectly for this sort of music. Lovely and short too, can’t go wrong with a 33 minute album.

I feel exactly about the same about this album. Word for word, including the dad part.

never really cared for The Strokes, I just can't get into the drunkenly slurry vocal style at all. Saw them live once and it was a total utter disaster of a show, so that didn't help either.

The Elusive Chanteuse was well ahead of her time with this record. I'd only heard the big singles from this prior to giving it a full listen and this was joyful and uplifting.

Daydream is such a singles-and-filler album for me. But MAN what singles.

I mean, my boyfriend looked at me weird as I was just all out jamming to "Always Be My Baby" which still remains a BOP. I was very impressed by "I Am Free."

That song is the whole reason Daydream was one of the first 2-3 albums I ever bought with my own money.

I think I got it at Strawberries so it probably cost me like 19 bucks.
