Lol you’re seeing me complain about it in real time on Strava.

Haha, yep! Complaining about running on Strava helps make it more bearable, in a way.

Going to do two today and two tomorrow to make up for missing the weekend.

For today, I'm doing The Weakerthans' Reconstruction Site and Teenage Fanclub's Grand Prix

Today is the day I'm listening to Taylor Swift's Red in its entirety for the first time. Ever.

I think it's common knowledge (at least to the folks who've followed me on Twitter for years) that I've never been a Taylor fan, but somehow as I've gotten older I've somehow warmed up to the idea of even listening to her stuff?

I get the hype behind this album now, I really do. That was a great listen and it is in fact, a magical album. Maybe if I wasn't so bitter and jaded about most of Taylor's career, this is something I would've really enjoyed.

"22" is still a terrible song though, and I will stand by that statement. I hated it when I was 22, I still hate it at 29, hell, I even hated it when it first hit the airwaves in 2012 because I knew it was going to be THE song for turning 22 a few months later.

"Sad Beautiful Tragic" seems like it'd be a better fit on folklore or evermore, especially after giving those both a listen when they first came out. The storytelling chops are really something and now I'm lowkey looking forward to a rerecorded version of that song in the same vein as folklore and evermore.

Genuinely curious: what is/has been your big gripe with Taylor?

  12. Doesn't quite touch Lafcadio as a whole, but the last minute of "Circles" kind of floored me.

You Can't Take It With You is incredibly front-loaded imo. The first half is basically perfect but the back half doesn't do anything for me.

    Duermete floors me every time.

She started growing to fame when I was still in high school in a small southcentral PA town. I never could get into her music when she first started out (wayyyyyyy too twangy for my tastes) and thanks to some internalized misogyny, that's probably why.

Have you heard the self-titled album yet? I haven’t listened to You Can’t Take It With You in a minute, gonna have to give it a spin soon

  18. I know I’ve heard it at some point but it’s been a long time.

Gotcha. I definitely wrote her off (like I wrote off almost all pop music) on her first two records, then came around in time for Speak Now. I just wondered if you'd had any particular axe to grind against her.

Guns N Roses = Appetite For Destruction for me today...never got into any of the 80s rock bands but really remember enjoying Paradise City in the movie Can't Hardly Wait aside from the other huge singles

No tweet yet since I’m not sure what the fuck to even say about it, but my album for today is Star by Ah-Mer-Ah-Su and I highly recommend it. Really beautiful stuff. The spoken word tracks/interludes especially are great
