I feel like mine today might surprise some people that I haven't heard it haha

Day 6, is Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco. This is the first album I’ve heard of her too.

This sounds like what I expected Fiona Apple to sound more like to be honest, knowing very little of either artist. Has that growly 90s style vocals again, though there’s something slightly grating about them here for whatever reason, it feels for lack of a better word “over pronounced” with the way the lyrics are enunciated.


This definitely sounds like the first Tegan and Sara record too, there’s clearly a lot of artists they loved around that period, that I don’t know.

This was overall decent, The Million you Never Made was probably my favourite song from a first listen. It’s not something I’m super desperate to re visit, but I enjoyed the album.

 

This left me pretty speechless. Definitely benefited from @Matt Chylak and @cshadows2887's suggestions of setting a vibe. Gonna be in constant rotation for me.

 

Canyon trilogy is great

 

Oh, my heart. This one was such a great listen and I can't believe I slept on this in 2003! This is an album that would've been one of my favorites to this day. The album has a cozy, soothing vibe to it. For me, it's perfect late fall-early winter listening. My heart is full and happy after listening.

Running through some albums from random folks on Twitter. Really loved Tyrone Davis - Can I Change My Mind and Mac Ayres - Magic 8ball

 

Switching out my Day 7 pick, as I did my list v quickly on a whim and then I saw that Red House Painters is Mark Kozelek’s band, and would rather not listen to him.

I switched it out for Yoakemae by Nana Yamato, which is an album from 2021 that a friend recommended, and I think my first new album I’ve heard this year. It’s pretty cool - dream pop / shoegazey type thing, not a million miles away from Cocteau Twins. She sings in English and Japanese and the vocals kind of blur into one at some points, so you can’t really tell what language she’s singing , which is a cool effect.

Nothing revolutionary or unusual, but it’s pretty nice and just 30 minutes long, so well worth a listen or two.

 

Gotta listen to two today to catch up. Deltron 3030 and Big Country

 

Went to Pink Floyd's The Wall today....not my thing...but glad I listened lol

 

Meant to have done The Chronic today but haven't had the time, so I'll be doubling up tomorrow.

 

Stoked to hear you like left and leaving. Phenomenal album and phenomenal band

Left and Leaving is 1999 to Reconstruction Site’s Purple Rain. Like “Wow what a great band and a classic record and...oh shit they have ANOTHER gear?”
