honestly not too big on southern air as a record, the title track/closer is rly good but the other three trump it for me personally

"Self Starter" is probably the only song on Vital I love.

well if you're going to love one that's the best choice, haha. I have cooled off on that album a fair amount honestly although it's still my third favourite of theirs. I do love the closer though although I think the closer from the Anchor & Braille record he put out that year "Before I Start Dreaming" was by far the best song from either album and honestly I'd be fine putting it in here and it's probably about on par with *Fin for me now as my favourite song he's written, ha.

haha, they're not the most memorable project to be fair. That song though. Apparently it was originally written as the closer to Vital before they wrote "God, Drugs & Sex".

Please be kind. Like actually kind though.

I have some songs that immediately come to mind.

The Wonder Years - I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral.
This track is just so infectious and anthemic, and the way the songs are the record are interweaved both lyrically and Instrumentally really tie together the ideas and emotions expressed during the course of the album so perfectly.

    Green Day - Whatsername
This track is the only way I could ever imagine American idiot ending. The sort of retrospective and accepting lyrics really contrast some of the other ideas on the album well, and sonically it was a nice step away from the grandiose, huge tracks that are on the record and instead closed the album with a song that was simple and sweet.

The Front Bottoms - Plastic Flowers
Easily the best closer in The Front Bottoms discography, it combines almost everything I love about them with all the growth and changes that Back On Top brought. And besides, how great is that spoken word monologue? I genuinely laughed the first time I heard it, and I still get at least a smile from it every time.

I'll be with you the whole way.

    Dendron is a great closer.
Besides, I always found Heaven as the perfect closer to I-Empire.

All Thursday closers are obvious choices

Some that I don't think have been mentioned:

From autumn to ashes - Short stories with tragic endings
La dispute - You and I in unison
Appleseed cast - Dream for us
The good life - A golden exit
Neutral Milk Hotel - two headed boy part 2
Pianos become the teeth - Say nothing

Also great picks on cursive stayin alive and mwy in a sweater

  13. matthaber

    beautiful and chequered, the end

    Sufjan Stevens - Impossible Soul.

This one song explores more ideas than most albums do .

Los Campesinos - Sweet Dreams, Sweet Cheeks

This will forever be my favourite closing track. It also happens to be the best closing song to a live set ever.

I'm not sure if Fireworks meant Oh, Common life to be an opener or a closer to the record. I have it as the closer, and think it works perfectly. But I could totally see it going either way.
