Like I’m just an utter failure at everything it means to be a human being and people wonder why I don’t wanna be a human being anymore!!

anyway I guess fish sticks it is

 

my only food modes are depressed or what a stoned person would do or both lol

 

I was going to say I’ve seen you cook a grilled cheese but then I got to your next post, lol! Honestly even that is more than some people know how to do. There are a ton of dishes that just involve putting things into a pan or baking dish and then waiting, maybe something like that would be a good place to start. I can’t remember your thoughts on soups but those are certainly easy.

I don’t really like soups but yeah like you’re right that I really need to expand my repertoire and have more dishes that are simple but still real food

I just don’t know how to do basically anything and it’s giving me a crisis

I’m sorry, I hope I’m not making that worse! I’ve been trying to help my father a lot with his cooking and his progress has been wonderful to see just in a few months. I can try to think of some fool proof recipes that I make a lot if you like. Also there’s nothing wrong with combining store bought with homemade as you’re learning (and after). Like you mentioned having fish sticks, and I’m a huge fan of turning those into a fish sandwich or something where the only thing I make from scratch is a tartar sauce to go on them, but the rest is just cutting up a few toppings and toasting a bun. Still feels more like a meal that you’ve created than having them on their own, but with very little extra effort.

 

okay i can't have either so please do this for me. make a grilled cheese. make the fish sticks. make another grilled cheese. put the fish sticks between the two grilled cheeses. make THAT into a grilled cheese.

people are really fucking mean towards millennials needing “adulting” classes and it’s like lol yeah sorry my parents didn’t teach me anything I fucking hate it too thanks!!

Our parents generation had those classes then got rid of them and then didn't teach us those things and are surprised we don't know.

 

Honestly? Kind of a lot.

Yeah that’s true I definitely never think of that kind of thing.
The problem always returns with being so picky. It sucks because I don’t feel picky or like I’m limited until I see others talking about food and I’m like oh

also like this is going to sound crazy/dumb but pretty much everyone on here is more “adult”/has their shit together more than...anyone else I know IRL so. I feel out of place here constantly.

they taught us this stuff in 7th grade with a "home and careers" class. idk any adults with a home and career in 7th grade

i had some but, we lost the cooking lesson privileges in home & careers bc some 12 year old couldn't keep it together saying "hors d'oeuvres"
