It is called the Transatlantic accent. It was used mostly by upper class in the northeast US in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. FDR was one of the more famous examples of this accent. It has become almost extinct.

Her character is doing an exaggerated version of that accent in an attempt to appear like "old money" American aristocracy.

 

Thank you for that, figured there was a reference point for it since it’s clearly intentional.

 

Munch - Indira - JJL - Gator all have something to say about debt, but I’m not sure i have the full picture yet.

 

another good example of it is anything said by any actor in the 2023 movie Maestro. Movie had me and my partner mimicking that accent for weeks around the house after we finished.

I feel like that’s the last we’ll see of Munch which is a bummer.

 

I’d like the say he represents universal balance or karma, but that doesn’t explain why he was willing to act as a hired gun to kidnap Dot. Unless he was told a tall tale by Tillman about how Dot was on the wrong side of the ledger & needed correction.

 

Yeah, I was questioning the same thing. And also the thing about him being 500 years old, or the ritual thing he performed where covered himself in what I remember to be mud? Or how he walked into the old woman’s house and started living there and she was basically just like “word that’s what’s up”. But yeah I definitely agree with the moral/karmic balance aspect, especially given this most recent episode

Okay episode. Usual penultimate episode where not a ton happens but sets up the finale well.

I liked that this showed how the Trump people will turn on the far right types they pander to for votes the second they inconvenience their billionaire donors.

I JUST finished Season 1 for the first time last night! I really enjoyed it. k&P felt like quite the choice though.. they definitely took me out of the show a bit.

 

I’m on episode 8 and this show is incredibly tight plot pacing wise. Extremely entertaining - episode 6 was by far the best so far
