Pretty cool that the season basically had the same opening/ending scene.

I'm halfway through the second season and I'm obsessed. I thought it was funny that both seasons make reference to a woman putting her thumb in a guy's ass. Does it happen in season three also?

  10. Stellar finale. I was briefly mad about the ending, but I quickly came to love it. My tv watching habit seems a little empty now that Leftovers, Better Call Saul, and this have all ended.

For me, all I'll have after this Sunday (when Veep and Silicon Valley end) are Twin Peaks and Turn. Crazy how none of the shows that usually premiere in the early summer aren't around this year. It's so empty.

  12. Ya after next Tues (iZombie ends), all I'll have is Twin Peaks and Orphan Black. I have a handful of Netflix shows to catch up on, though. They seem to be dropping all their new seasons around this time when all the big broadcast/cable shows are ending. A couple months ago a was watching like 15 shows lol.

Yeah at the height of this tv season I was probably watching around fifteen as well, most likely. It's crazy how out of control Peak TV has gotten.

I just got around to watching the finale and am in awe. Wow. Incredible finale. Now I want to go back and rewatch the first two seasons.

Preacher starts back up on Sunday, so all I'll have for this summer is Twin Peaks and Preacher. But I'm definitely going to check out Snowfall, because that looks pretty good.

Yeah, this definitely ended strong after a very slow start. So many questions though.

Also, I'm bummed Emmett died. I don't think he deserved it. He was one of the more innocent people in the show who just got fucked over and over again

  18. Truth. Only thing I am left a little unsettled by. I kinda justify it by reminding myself that (and maybe I just missed it) it was never really determined whether or not he officially greenlit poisoning Sy, which is p messed up if he did -- even if his hand was pushed.

I never got the impression that he was involved in that, but it could've easily gone over my head.

Emmit had so many chances to go to the police and didn't...that doesn't mean he deserves to die but he was a bit of an idiot.

He was absolutely an idiot. Almost the entire season was built on how dumb him and Sy were. But they were also just so out of their element. He probably thought they could still get out of it until it was too late.

Yeah, Emmit dying bummed me out too but in a way it makes sense thematically. Especially since Wrench has shown to be a unwaveringly loyal to those he befriends/works with and in his mind, he surely blamed Emmit for Nikki's death. So not only was he finishing her work, he was "avenging" the death of the second person (that we know of anyway) he's grown close to and then lost.

I read an interview where Hawley also said that he feels like Wrench probably kinda fell in love with Nikki during their time together, so there's that on top of everything else. So when you consider all those factors it feels like less a nihilistic of a death, if not less depressing.

It's interesting how Emmit subverted the idiot Fargo "protagonist" theme by eventually turning himself in and confessing, even pleading to be punished and locked up. Granted he squandered several chances to come clean but the fact that he ultimately did, even if it was too late, is something worth noting when weighing him against people like Lester/Peggy/Ed/etc.

Emmitt wasn't innocent, he still cheated his brother, and allowed all of this to snowball to the point it did. He didn't do anything truly evil, killing only as an accident redeems him somewhat next to other Fargo leads, and he was much more passive as things spiraled out of control around him, but I would not say his hands are clean in the whole situation.

After sitting with this for a few days I think I actually do like S3 more than S1 but not as much as S2. The slow burn and the increased weirdness really did it for me. Also David Thewlis just stole the show and ran away with it. Plus as I said earlier I think this season was way more focused than the first. But all three of these seasons have been fantastic and some of my favorite television of at leas the last ten years, if not all time.
