i like it, don't love it. way better than SRAR though. "Jet Pack Blues", "Fourth of July", "Novocaine" are all jams.

 

This is true. Those three songs are the strongest from this album for sure.

 

Pete has kept dropping hints about a purple album after they did their Bloom shows, which were also themed in purple. I would be surprised if they released something soon, but then again I wouldn't. They never seem to stop working.

 

So She's My Winona and Tiffany Blews have some of the best sounding drums ever, correct?

 

I absolutely hate both those songs

 

My girlfriend likes this band and played their new album in the car. Do people / the band still consider them to be a rock group? Because what I heard was 100% club music. Incredible how much they've changed since the early days. I'm surprised they didn't shed their fanbase when they completely changed genre.

 

Lol this is not club music. They're still pretty much a pop rock band

 

Maybe I didn't listen closely enough. Couldn't hear any guitars or acoustic drums in the songs I heard I don't think. Sounded like club music to me. That's not meant to be derisive either. It's a pretty drastic change from the sound that made them famous though, no?

 

Yes-- the newest albums are very poppy to the point where theyve divided the fanbase a little bit. I wouldnt go as far as calling it clubbing music though. It just sounds like radio rock to me. Not rly a huge fan

 

I mean I guess kind of but they've always been making pop rock since 2007 or so. There's plenty of guitar in songs like Uma Thurman and Jetpack Blues and Twin Skeletons and Irresitable. Pretty obvious sounding guitars and drums, just mixed in with more electronics and samples which works really well.

 

What I'm sayin. Even on SRAR there's lots of guitar and bass. The songs I mentioned above just have the most audible and apparent guitar imo

All this Bloom promo for just a few shows and a 2 minute video is odd, but his hint drops lead me to believe something bigger is coming soon.

Wouldn't be surprised if they started hinting for an album coming out next year, both before and after the hiatus they release an album every two years

 

Pretty sure Bloom was just a thing for these last few festival dates. They released it now since it's the end of those dates.
