both musically and lyrically it feels like there's some connective tissue missing between the pre-chorus and chorus on "heartbreak", it just seems to launch into the hook/title lyric out of nowhere. that's my only nitpick. good song!

 

I ran a 50 kilometer trail race yesterday and had only 2 songs stuck in my head the entire time. “Heartbreak…” and “Headfirst Slide...”. a good problem to have. Kept me occupied while my body hurt . Other songs crept in but those two held strong!

they’re big but nowhere near FOB big

It seems like an odd choice, just cause I can't imagine BMTH fans being that into FOB, even though I do enjoy both bands.

Maybe an attempt to cross-pollinate, but that feels ill-advised, I dunno.

 

Still a step up from MGK IMO

 

I don’t follow or keep up with BMTH, but I feel like from a music standpoint that pairing makes sense. For FOB, it’s a big band that can draw, but wouldn’t outdo them. For BMTH, it gets them in front of people that both like them and maybe haven’t given them a shot. There is probably a decent amount of “down the middle” FOB fans that haven’t listened to BMTH and would probably like the more recent material.

 

Would absolutely love to finally see the academy is… live, but of course, Boston will just get four year strong. Sigh

well I won't be going to this tour since the MA date is at Fenway. I'd have to sell a fucking kidney to afford a show there.
