I remember hearing young and meance for the first time and not liking it at all and now in the context of Mania I hear it and it's just so different. This album fucking riiiiiiiiiips. I love folie but man post-folie fall out boy is some shit to reckon with GOD DAMN

 

Yeah it’s their #2 for me, it’s the perfect mix of their pop in post-hiatus with some additional aggression we haven’t heard in a while

 

Man I forgot how tasty Pete’s bass work in Church was

the amount of adults dating teens in that time period was really bad, I think one of the Good Charlotte guys and.... Hilary Duff? Chad Gilbert & Hayley Williams, the examples are unfortunately numerous. And that was only the public ones during that time, privately? Who knows how many instances there were....

 

We are all fucked. Maybe it’s why all this fucked up shit keeps happening? Idk. It’s always too much.

I would like to think that this is a specific issue that has had a big change over time at least. Underage girls and rock music have been paired together since rock music started, the 70s... 80s... 90s... it was just something that happened. So many classic artists dated underage girls and/or married them later in life, it was commonplace.

I think with the rise of social media, that is one good thing to come out of it, we don't see this happen much anymore (at least not publicly), so that's a step in the right direction right?

 

Silver lining. Even still, I do get chills when I look back at all the lyrics and how bad ALL of it is.

 

Because ultimately it is intrinsically tied to so much of our concept of identity or self - or at the very least - a substantial component of a former self - just hard not feel so culpable.

 

I still think the fact that he's continuing to be idolized and now being memorialized as a funko in 2021 is gross.
