first thing that comes to mind is a tumblr post from pete when they first got back together saying they wouldn’t do one and would be doing new music etc etc. i’m sure they’ve dispelled it since but not sure off the top of my head

so because you did not personally enjoy the record, the band must obviously be disappointed?

  4. An album many love and that they’re proud of? It’s not that hard

i think they're just not a band that has ever wanted to live in the past or operate based off nostalgia - to my mind, it's clear in everything they do, and they've definitely said as much at least a few times

For better or for worse, I can definitely see that in their career path. Would just love to hear some of those old songs again. They basically play the same older songs all the time while I get it for their whole production to be in sync, it would be nice to hear more than just the same hits from the old records. Can I get a "Sophomore Slump," "Tell that mick..." or something for the heads?

"Tell That . . ." is such a toxic song I'd be fine if they never played it again.

no, disappointed but it’s lack of success when compared to the last 2 they put out prior is what i meant

Genuinely curious why you believe it is. Lyrically, it doesn’t appear any more malignant than a lot of their catalog about kiss offs and vague revenge motifs. Am I missing backstory or something else?

I wouldn't call wishing someone death in multiple ways - dying from smoking, choking, catching fire, driving off a bridge, strangulation/hanging, crashing a car into a tree - "vague revenge motifs". It's the exact kind of toxic bullshit that was rampant in the scene at the time and rightfully gets called out for its toxicity now.

Calm down, breathe, everything will be okay. Everyone is far to damn sensitive now. This whole "I don't approve of this so that means no one can" has got to stop. People have ways of expressing things in art without fully meaning it. Not every word an artist writes is their truth. Think of them as writing a book but need it to be entertaining, edgy, etc. Simply because your feelings get hurt far to easy so anything that hurts your feelings is now off the table for the rest of the world. That would mean every author would be in trouble. It's simply writing a catchy song when your young. Quit looking so deep into finding reasons to not like something

As far as Mania goes. Its my least favorite of theirs by a pretty good margin (still thought it was alright when it came out) but the more I revisit it the more I enjoy it and realize sometimes time is needed for an album to grow on you.
