Petal is a finalist for my SOTY. And The Coin Has a Say is still top 10 or 20

I never do aoty because I'm bad at picking a favorite but this is the obvious winner in 2016 for me. I still find new things to love about it with almost every listen.

Does that mean stores have the complete version too? I've passed on picking it up a couple times cuz I wasn't sure if it was the defective version.

Was going through the mid-to-late career ETID albums a bunch the past couple days (NJA through FPU) and as much as I love those albums, I think Low Teens is so good that it's in an entire class by itself when talking about ETID's discography. I mean, how many bands put out their best album eight albums in?? That's rarefied air.

I've been learning a bunch of the songs in Drop C lately, so Map Change, It Remembers, Coin, and Just as Real. The last two are in particular an absolute blast.

I don't understand how Andy and Jordan write the riffs that they do. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like they're in this weird zone between something technical yet chaotic like Converge or Dillinger and the more straightforward style of something like Motörhead or Pantera. It makes their riffs juuuust hard enough to learn that it's a challenge but still fun enough to just bang your head to. And they're writing their best riffs 8 albums in, which is incredible.

I think that's a perfect way to describe it. I've been playing guitar over a decade now but only play a few times a week, so for me figuring out the songs is a bit difficult at first, but once I learn them I can get in the groove quick. Even most of their faster, more difficult riffs (Underwater Bimbos, Coin come to mind) are either on the low E, in the same vicinity across the three low strings, or involve a bunch of hammer ons/pull offs. Something I really appreciate not being able to dedicate as much time to playing guitar as I'd like anymore.

i love them and find them much more enjoyable to listen to than DEP (not so much converge though it's close) but the guitars in this band are nowhere near DEP really. Ben is like a theory/jazz genius and the mathy/time signature shifts he writes aren't really touched by andy or jordan's stuff. for better or worse. like i said, i like this and more. just very different styles.
