Ghost is alright, don’t like the other two. Not super into this straight forward RnB poppy stuff they’re doing now, miss the grittiness of Lowcountry

Yeah everything they’ve released since the Ritual EP has been hit or miss for me. But when they hit, they reallly hit.

The songs are fine standalone, but the biggest problem is that Ryan has 3 projects now and they all sound the same. There’s nothing here that distinctly distinguishes EOTC from 1st Vows or Violent Joy. They don’t really sound like Envy songs, they sound like everything else this dude has released since the band originally broke up, aside from NK. They desperately need the original line up back

Not a fan of the production. Idk why but these guys just seem to keep sabotaging the sound that made them EITC to begin with.

Love me some Matt Fazzi though.

I’ll still go to bat for the Ritual EP being underrated on here… there are some real bangers on that one. But I do agree that there’s a lot of elements on these three new songs that are similar to Violent Joy. Honestly though I’m just a big fan of everything Ryan does, so it’s hard for me to critique them too hard.

The ritual EP is fantastic. I definitely agree that at this point an Envy release is kind of the same as a new 1st Vows or Violent Joy release, but I’ve enjoyed it all so I don’t mind.

I’ve only been a very casual fan of EOTC since the s/t EP but I think the new EP is great. Not as big on flash bang but the others are fantastic.

Flash Bang is half baked and too repetitive but Ghost and Bet are very solid. I do want them to bring back some grit ala Lowcountry but I love Ryan’s voice so I’ll take whatever he makes.

There’s literally not a single weak track on Lowcountry. It’s all killer and yes - no filler.

Puritan Dirt Song is an underrated one. The Great American T-Shirt Racket is my favorite though.
