Bringing out the dead is a time-consuming job. There’s a lot of dead! Sometimes it takes a while to finish.

The Irish man is ridiculous to watch, they should of gone all the way and CGId faces on 20yr old body dubs.

What is the alternative? Go back and watch Goodfellas when De Niro shows up and they say with a straight face he is in his late twenties.

I am currently in an argument with my friends over how good The Irishman is. It may be Deniro’s best performance

Yeah his age shows but it’s still a great movie.

The Irishman is top 3 Scorsese for me, but body doubles probably would have helped in some scenes. I don't mind the de-aging overall in the film but those scenes are a little jarring.

What bugs me about both Irishman and KOTFM is that it feels impossible to get a sense of the passage of time within them. Entire years will go by but nothing notably changes, so it isn’t until a line of exposition says so that it hits that we’re now in a completely different time from wherever we were just a scene or two prior

I haven’t seen Goodfellas or Casino is a while so they may have a similar issue, but I don’t recall ever feeling that way with them. Same with Wolf of Wall Street — it always felt like there were plenty of visual cues to convey whenever a notable chunk of time passes, like the business getting bigger, him buying fancier things, montages, etc

It’s weird to me how much people have a problem just going with it when they watch a movie. De-aging effects aren’t good enough. Character doesn’t age enough. A clunky visual effect. The actor doesn’t look enough like the real life person. Like…it doesn’t have to be that hard of a needle to thread. Use your imagination and go with it

Watched the king of comedy last night and I think that jumps to top 5 Scorsese for me and maybe Bobby’s best performance.
