How to Blow Up a Pipeline was quite good, very simple but effective. Can’t think of any other descriptions that wouldn’t risk spoiling the main tension of it

My buddy watches shit on his phone all the time and it drives me crazy. He’ll text me while the movies is in the corner of his screen.

He has ranted about that in the past and he is right.

It comes from flattening everything into "content". It is fine to watch a YouTube video or a sitcom like that, but not a film.

Pretty sure that is an old quote. I know I’ve read that before.

funny he gave the quote since you could tell me their movies were directed by AI and i'd believe you

  19. Wasn't there a streaming platform for phones? There were like a bunch of ads for it at one point but then we never heard about it again

lol Quibi. I liked their 50 States of Fright concept that was a horror short for each state, but all I could think about when trying to watch one was that I wish I could watch this on my TV.

I don't think it existing is out of the realm of possibility, but it being convincing is. For all the progress of AI in the news, a lot of the "creative" output from it is still very flawed and often quite obvious. Thinking about everything that would need to go into a fully AI movie, I think we're a ways away from anything "convincing".

Then there's this, which is just depressing.

What he is describing is basically the holodeck from Star Trek.

I'm hopeful that the successes of Top Gun 2 and Avatar 2 and the relative failure of the recent superhero films suggests a desire for human warmth, but it is going to pop up at the screenwriting level, if it hasn't anyway.

“Hey, I want a movie starring my photoreal avatar and Marilyn Monroe’s photoreal avatar. I want it to be a rom-com because I’ve had a rough day.”

    What an absolutely dire suggestion.

yeah and it launched right before Covid and could only watch on your phone. It was already a bad idea but everyone being stuck inside and not being able to watch it on tv especially tanked it.
