What director has the best soundtracks (not scores)?

I am surprised how much of the music I have saved comes from Wes Anderson films, followed closely by Quentin Tarantino. I feel like those two will be very popular answers.

Making movies is such a privilege. We lose so many potentially great ones through poverty and political authoritarianism.

 

Doesn’t speak to the director but Now and Then is always the first movie that comes to mind for great soundtracks

 

I have seen Now and Then an embarrassing number of times.

I hadn’t seen it in probably 10 or so years and watched it a few weeks ago. I had completely forgotten how dark it is in places
