Nolan took Batman pretty seriously, and as excited as I am for Battinson to be even darker, I kinda wanna see Batfam in live action. Titans does have Dick, Jason, Tim, and Barbara, but idk aside from Tim they're all so jaded

 

The dark and gritty swerve ended up being a massive overcorrection to Schumaker’s take and led to Superman being given to Zack Snyder so I’d love a fun superhero film again, and not the MCU corporate approved largely homogenous fun, I mean an absolute weirdo getting handed an iconic character and getting to do it in a uniquely stylized, vibrant, comic book-y vision, a la Schumaker with Batman and Raimi with Spider-Man

 

Keaton clearly felt that Burton’s version of a weirdo making a stylized comic book movie was better. And he was right.

 

Also lol at the suggestion that Venom was made by someone on the same level as a Burton (at the time) or a Raimi. Or Schumacher, for that matter.

 

While I understand Keaton declining to return given the shift in tone between directors, I do think that with time we can appreciate the camp of Batman Forever and even though it was mocked at the time, I’d give anything for a superhero movie that feels like that again given the current landscape of either MCU quips and likability sameness or grimdark super serious violence. I haven’t seen Venom 2 but the first was fun and weird so if it gets weirder I’m interested.

Batman Forever has a lot to like and so does Batman & Robin for that matter. They’re not better than the Burtons or the Nolans though, nor Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. They are way better than the Venoms, at least!

 

They’re definitely better than TDKR, maybe Begins but I haven’t seen that since theaters
