I somehow never had movie pass. How did it work?

 

The moviepass era was a game changer and looking back, may have what killed going to the movies for me forever.

Once you give me unlimited movies for $10-$20mo, I can't go back to $15 per movie (especially since most major movies are average at best). Then covid, then the shifting landscape of where movies even are...

It was the last great movie theater era.

I saw sooooo many movies that I otherwise would have waited for steaming or just outright pass

 

A List, to me, scratches this itch. 3 movies a week for $25, no uncharge for IMAX or Dolby is fantastic, and I almost never am able to get that 3rd movie in.

 

regal unlimited is better than a list, but it also kinda only matters based on what’s in your town

 

true, I have probably 7 different AMC’s in my area. I didn’t like that you get charged extra for IMAX or Dolby with RU, though.

 

but you can see truly unlimited movies a week/month.

 

Idk I’d rather take no upcharges for IMAX in exchange for a 3 movies a week limit. I couldn’t see more than three movies in a week anyway.

Whatever you have is the best because that's what you can use.

I'd love to get a list or something but I don't go to enough movies (before covid). Maybe when my son is older.

 

Same. This time of year I tend to hit 2 a week, sometimes 3 depending on if some films are expanding, but I imagine around the Spring there will many many less films I'm super interested in. But, hey, maybe not. This is my first year with A List, and I will go see pretty much anything.

 

Also, maybe it's just out of convenience because a Dolby AMC is walking distance from me, but I feel like I've enjoyed my experience in Dolby way more than IMAX. I used to live in Irvine, CA and their IMAX screen was huge, and all other ones in comparison feel much smaller, so that may be it, too.

 

I feel like any sort of subscription service would only be worth it for a few months out of the year. There are some deserts out there.

 

January & February can be tough months for subscription services.

part of the fun of those subscriptions is that you can go see movies you wouldn't normally pay to see if you feel like doing so

 

So true. I had fun seeing Halloween Kills, so I'm looking forward to having fun seeing anything.

 

In January/February when it's like nothing good is being released I've used Moviepass/A-List to watch stuff that was released in late December, usually the kind of thing that'd go up for Academy Awards. So like, I'd purposely not go see them the weekend they're released.

 

why else would Simon Kinberg make a Jessica Chastain spy movie if not for me to use my a list

 

This sounds awesome and I wish it was in theaters instead of Hulu.

I loved 10 Cloverfield Lane so I'm excited for Prey
