This is fake, but I wouldn't put it past Disney to do something like it.

I just rewatched Uncle Boonmee the other week after not totally getting it when I watched it a year ago and this time fell deeply in love with it. I was a little worried how Tilda Swinton would gel in an Apichatpong movie but all the critics seem to say it is definitely an Apichatpong movie so I'm here for it

 

Shyamalan gets more bad faith criticism than any director.

 

Even if it wasn't answered in the movie, they clearly must come from a place where there is no water (because they clearly don't know water is harmful to them until they get to Earth). So logically there's the answer right there, they simply didn't know. Was always a stupid criticism from the CinemaSins-type crowd.

It was a common criticism shortly after it had been out for a while. People wanted to tear him down after The Sixth Sense, but they weren't really successful until The Village.

 

Yeah I’ve been hearing that ~critique~ for a while and people always frame it as some sort of gotcha!

 

One of the counselors who was also the gym teacher showed us The Village in summer camp when I was in 7th grade. None of us were ready for it
